Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication

In my opinion, the album is excellent, but not the best. As for Frusciante, well, it’s hard to find a less technical guitarist than him around; moreover, his style leaves me perplexed. However, he had a certain originality during the time of Blood Sugar Sex Magic: let’s say that his contribution was crucial on that album. Rather, what strikes me about the Red Hot Chili Peppers is the rhythm section: fantastic. In my opinion, Smith and Flea are incredibly underutilized, and they could form a supergroup with a funk guitarist with some real chops. Kiiedis is fine, although he has a sea of flaws, especially live.

Joe Strummer, you are my favorite reviewer. This review is fantastic, and in my opinion, it perfectly expresses the greatness of the album and its content. I agree when you say that it’s not at the same level as the debut; in fact, there is an extremization of the sound that could only lead to this. I believe the subsequent album also deserves 5 stars, so why don’t you review it (I'm not saying you have to give it the maximum, though :-) )? Best regards.

Exceptional album, an authentic masterpiece of prog-metal. The suite stands among the most beautiful of all time in prog in general, and it seems to have nothing to envy from the prog suites of the 70s. The arrangements, crafted by Romeo himself, are masterful, with the incredible Russell Allen, THE prog-metal singer for his incredible stylistic versatility, and the others are simply impeccable. It truly feels like witnessing Ulysses battling the storm, facing Polyphemus, the sorceress Circe, and so on. As for the other tracks, Inferno is simply explosive (have you heard the live performance at Gigantuour? It leaves you speechless; at times, Allen doesn’t even need the microphone...), Accolade II is almost more evocative than its predecessor, The Awakenings is spine-chilling, with that build-up of pathos and masterful vocal interpretation. Incantations Of The Apprentice is yet another masterpiece. The other tracks, while notable, cannot compete with these, especially since they lean more towards power than prog. An album on par with the previous one, perhaps slightly below The Divine Wings Of Tragedy. Excellent review.

An album like this cannot be dismissed so easily. And then not even a mention of the Cantico dei Drogati, in short, a shameful review.

Nice album and great review. I don’t agree with the orchestrations in "There's a World": in my opinion, they are spot on and give the song a lot of pathos.

There can't be much good about this record. Ringo as a drummer has his reasons - after all, he helped define the Beatles' music, not exactly newcomers - but when it comes to songwriting, he really doesn't measure up. Let's say he tried to leverage his popularity to make a few bucks. The review is good.

People who talk about objective criteria for music make me laugh. If I like a record, I like it, end of story; it’s an unassailable judgment. And then, who would safeguard objective beauty? One can discuss the technical elements of a record and justify their opinion by referring to these objective factors (the production, the lyrics, the arrangements, the atmospheres, etc.), but you can’t undermine someone’s enjoyment of a record by saying it’s objectively not good. That’s a misguided attitude.

:-) I don’t know how, but I got hooked... and anyway, I reiterate: Splendid album, in my opinion much much better than Desertshore, which is the only one of its albums that I have. The sound is very autumnal, but that's what makes it quite evocative. Of course, the vocal registers are always the same (it’s not like she was an extraordinary singer), but it’s very pleasant, unlike Desertshore which, in my opinion, becomes tedious after a while. :-)

I have never been to a Maiden concert, but I’m convinced it’s impossible not to have a blast. Of course, though, the setlist… They can’t hit us with the entire new album while sidelining songs like The Number Of The Beast or Run To The Hills…
