Just under 10 years ago, the poet and songwriter from Genoa, Fabrizio De Andrè, passed away. Who among us hasn't listened to him? Who among us hasn't loved him? Who among us hasn't cried for him?
I have his face watching me (yes, the very one from this cover) hanging near my computer, perhaps to inspire me when I write my poems, or to watch over me and maybe give me some suggestions, some advice, but so far it hasn't happened :-)
Jokes aside, from a young age, Faber very wisely understood what life was, how terrible life was, and he described it in his own way in his songs, without struggling to find the right words, because they came naturally to him… this is what Fabrizio had more of, being inside and at the same time above the world, looking with free eyes, without various constraints or prejudices.
"Tutti morimmo a stento" is the first concept album produced in Italy, but I won't be here to describe it because I am no one, we are no one in front of Faber, we must not and cannot analyze anything of his Work, but only listen and, if we can, understand.

know that death watches over you, whether rejoicing in the fields or among lime walls

Maybe, IT IS A POETRY BOOK. Perhaps just the ravings of a madman, but one we have loved dearly.

This album, both in the stunning poems recited by De André’s baritone voice and in the redundant and baroque arrangements, is the darkest and most desperate thing ever recorded up to now.
We are facing one of the greatest masterpieces of modern music of our time: it is an album truly worthy in all respects, and at least one listen among friends is a must.
