for me, Sonic Youth gave post-rock (from Louisville) just the harsh and frayed sound, because Ranaldo and Moore's style was anything but minimalist...the Wire, on the other hand, with their abstract, disorienting, skeletal, minimalist architectures anticipated some stylistic traits of Slint...ah, Barrett has nothing to do with post-rock ;-D

cute, energetic, occasionally funny, but not particularly original... much better are the Stickmen... great review: I especially agree with the point about the dips in inspiration (too many on this album, after all they didn't have the caliber to sustain 50 minutes at Minutemen levels)... however, maximum respect... how are the other albums (assuming they can be found somewhere)?

Moreover, it’s clear that your judgments on post-77 rock are superficial, stemming from a cursory listening experience and based on stupid prejudices.
