Christian Death Sex & Drugs & Jesus Christ
Voto:
without Rozz and without the great R. Agnew, not much progress is made... Manson has taken a lot from various alternative bands of the 80s: certainly the death-rock scene in LA hasn't been indifferent to him... as for the anti-Christian "provocation," I frankly think that several 80s HC groups (for example: the Feederz) have done worse, but perhaps they caused less scandal because they had less visibility compared to Christian Death...

never liked these... I haven't listened to the album in question, but the debut from '77 and the "masterpiece" The Raven were enough for me... I don't know, I’ve always found them lukewarm, too formal: more than new-wave, their music seems to me a recollection of the Doors, passed through progressive machinations and masked as English dark-wave... In the two albums I've listened to, there's not a single track that I remember with pleasure: they're good, mind you, impeccable musicians, but I don't think they've ever found inspiration... (@Popolo: I really prefer ELO and Supertramp! :-D)... anyway, great review, Brainiac...funny, especially when you outline the profile of the "requester"... ;-)

Thanks to everyone for the interventions! A special shout-out to the legendary DonJ...@Soul: you know I prefer this Flood to Lincoln? It’s a bit less experimental, but more fun overall... of course, no one can beat the debut album: the first side is worth 100 Greatest Hits of 100 renowned pop bands, in my opinion: "Everything's right is wrong agaaaaain!!!" :-) I'm terrible at basketball; I follow football much more... but I'm glad that last year an outsider won the NBA title, and not the usual Lakers, Celtics, etc... or the heavily favored Heat... I don't have a favorite team; when I was a kid, I didn't like the Magic, and I actually remember the thrashing they took in the finals against the Rockets about 15 years ago :-) As for Italy, we are almost always the underdog, right?

still Australia?!?! :-) The music video with the dinosaurs is unforgettable: only in the '80s did things like this happen... these guys are great, I always listen to them in sequence with Up and Downs and Go Betweens... fresh fresh power-pop... among the meteors of that era, do you know the Riptides, even though they were a bit older, like late '70s? Their Sunset Strip makes me jump every time I hear it...

She's a Braniac, Braniac...I sure know! :-) T&G great label...these guys from Ohio had to reconnect with the new wave, since it was partly born right there...I need to listen to them again though: one of the many bands I've come across fleetingly...
T. Rex Electric Warrior

I don't know whether the sinful rock tracks are better or the languid pop ballads... this album is magical... Life's a gaaaas :-) The T-Rex's 20th Century Boy is extraordinary, from another album... Bold music like few, irresistibly petty... Also worth revisiting are the various Slade, Sweet, etc... FOOOOX ON THE RUUUUUUN

autumn is about to arrive, once again... it's time for Nick Cave... although I much prefer the Birthday Party... moving, though, in Wings of Desire, first Nick and then the legendary Crime & City Solution: a memorable film...
