When I think of "sick" prog, VDGG comes to mind, but these (from how you describe them) sound much less dark and twisted... I'll look them up...

Tortoise Millions Now Living Will Never Die...

review one of the best I've come across in recent times... truly a great discourse on post-rock and its possible meanings, even though the sentence "enclosed within such a perimeter, which is Rock, in forms chosen from time to time, overcoming the pseudo-dichotomy with electronics as if it had never existed (and perhaps that's just the way it is)" could be debated endlessly... for me, rock is something else, and electronics often (but not always) represents its negation... with Tortoise, we are in the realm of electronics (despite the use of rock, jazz, etc. instruments), in the sense that without electronics, an album like Millions would be inconceivable (especially Djed)... unlike, for example, Spiderland, which is made entirely with three rock instruments, live, without overdubs... they are really two antithetical ways of conceiving musical creation...
Starfuckers Infrantumi

Here’s an example of a short but incredibly rich review... the fundamental group is the Starfuckers... the subsequent "Sinistri" is also very nice... it is indeed music that gives a sense of existing independently of any creative act... it’s music without musicians... however, I don’t understand the phrase "vittoria dell'alchimia sulla chimica"; to me, it's the opposite: the concept of alchemy fits an organic, structured music, like that of Tago Mago... whereas in Infrantumi there is no alchemy, just raw sound elements, completely disaggregated...

"the sunny Neil Young of 'Zuma' spotted in the gloomy and melancholic Scottish weekend" <<< fantastic this phrase...great review, concise yet thorough...I've only heard these mentioned...ah, of course, Rangers >>>>>>>>>>>>> Celtic ;-)

eheh the beastly 80s, these guys... these analog sounds remind me of when I was in elementary school and there was only the Commodore 64, the peak of graphics you could wish for a video game was 8 bit!!! good times...(and there was still the knockout stage Champions Cup: good times/repeat)
