The Gun Club Death Party
Voto:
Of the Gun Club, I only own the debut album, the incendiary "Fire of Love"... For now, I'm not inclined to dive deeper into this band, as I appreciate them but only to a certain extent... Who knows, maybe this passionate review will change my mind... :-) In any case, I think I can say that the Gun Club influenced almost all the post-punk bands that, in the 80s, somehow connected with the blues and country traditions, the "roots" of American folk music; yesterday I was listening to "Doolittle" by the Pixies: I believe that certain tracks from that album are strong debtors to the style of Pierce's group...

What a pity you make me feel... The thing that saddens me the most is that unfortunately it’s useless to set the "hide anonymous comments" option, because apparently it’s not necessary to have a gray name to tarnish others' reviews... In short: you’ve broken my balls! Go take your garbage somewhere else. OUT WITH THE SCUM FROM DEBASER! Ah, if anyone wants to say a few words about Naked Raygun, they are welcome... @Sanjuro: for the next records I’ll review, state secrecy is in effect! :-P

Really a nice link, I’ll read it from start to finish later... I really know only a few jazz records... If Giant Steps is as wonderful as Favourite Things, we’re in for a treat... :-)

I found it: a well-known equine passed it to me (a cross between a horse and a donkey: yes, you got it...). But there’s a catch: in my version, there are 41 songs (with some probably incorrect titles...). Could I have come across a shortened and/or alternative version?

Excellent review. And now I'm getting ready to receive the necessary beatings: I haven't listened to the album yet...ouch!!! But did it come out before or after My Favourite Things?
The Misfits Earth A.D.
Voto:
Really a nice review! I've listened to the debut album by the Misfits, the legendary "Walk Among Us"... Regarding the connection to metal, I believe that, despite the repeated tributes from thrash bands to Danzig's band, it was other hardcore bands that had a greater influence on the generation of Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, etc., such as Black Flag, Minor Threat, and especially Bad Brains (in addition to, of course, the more extreme metal groups of the early '80s, namely Motörhead and Venom)... Anyway, this is what I think, based on listening to the first album by the Misfits: it may be that this "Earth A.D." is closer in sound and style to "Kill 'em All" (at least that's how I interpreted it from the review)...

This must be one of those records that makes you really want to make music for your own sake, with makeshift instruments, at home... I'll get it as soon as possible (now, thanks to Debaser, the list of "albums you must own at all costs" is reaching unimaginable lengths)... I imagine the Shaggs as some sort of older sisters to Jad Fair? Did I get it right?

Ah, I see, so I must have been too strict with the regular, denying it top marks... mmm... I understand... on the other hand, strict grading also serves to inspire talented students... ;-) Anyway, getting back on track, the real issue with the comments on "Jettison" is certainly not the 4 given to me by Sanjuro (nor the 2 from Tabba); the problem is that after about a dozen comments, people have practically stopped discussing music... :-((( Take a look...

Odra, it's not in my reviews that I engage in parodying Joyce, but in the comments on other reviews! :-D The more passionate I am about the album in question, the more verbose my comments become. I’ll stop here, otherwise Joyce will roll over in his grave... :-P

Yes, a regular-iana review at 24 carats! I'm not giving you 5, just because I would have preferred it longer, like a "river review, in the style of Joyce's stream-of-consciousness" or something like that... I really need to dust off this album... Great find! Well done! ;-)
