<<Winter Lights is a masterpiece, which may be criticized but has a strength, courage, and rigor that make it a masterpiece in the history of cinema understood as a "list of titles that are art." Smiles of a Summer Night is a beautiful film in the history understood as a "list of famous films.">> This is a discourse that makes no sense: now a film "that is art" cannot be "famous"?!! Are we kidding??!! Citizen Kane, Bicycle Thieves, Apocalypse Now, 2001: A Space Odyssey are not "art"??!! Come on...

I periodically rewatch this film (the film of my life)… I did it yesterday, and for yet another time, I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen… I was moved just like when I saw it for the first time over 10 years ago… entering into the specifics of the discussion you were having about the best Bergman film, I agree that there are several Bergman films far denser than this one in terms of content (at least these: Como en un espejo, Il Volto, Luci d'inverno, Persona, Sussurri e grida, even the light Sorrisi di una notte d'estate, not to mention of course Il Settimo Sigillo)… and yet, Smultronstället remains his greatest work, because the lesser richness and depth of content is compensated by an emotional impact that is nothing short of DEVASTATING… and it is this that makes the difference…

futurism, prog, wave, synthesizers...really?!...at the moment, I only know a few tracks, quite derivative (the usual Yardbirds)...in the realm of 60's garage, much better are certain violent and ignorant groups like the Monks and Shadows Of Knight: how can you compete with the riff of I'm Gonna Make You Mine? No wonder Lester Bangs went crazy over it...
