The Band Music from Big Pink

just the mention of both them and Scorsese's documentary... a wonderful review; this reflection is very sharp: "This was undoubtedly the quid of The Band: to evoke the myths of the truest and most hidden America during a period of esoteric and lysergic travels, as well as of tearing social conflicts. An apparent generational short circuit that instead produced an American mystique that fed on lost territories, on heroism at the frontier, on microcosms with an epic and biblical flavor capable of revealing the poignant humanity hidden in the dusty trunks of the Empire."

I agree with bjorky... I also expect more from Fidia ;-) "The Seed of Madness" is one of the best horror films of the '90s: a sociological film (like all of Carpenter's works).

Ah well, that scene is indeed heartbreaking... but then the war ends and the "heroes" return home to the tune of Viva Topolino... immense Stanley! :-)

a great film, recommended to all those who believe that homosexuality can only be associated with the carnival imagery of gay pride: in this movie, homosexuality is not showcased as a difference (to perhaps flaunt in order to assert one's supposed nonconformity), but as something completely normal, perfectly adaptable to the gray and respectable everyday life of an English winter.

Upon closer inspection, almost all of Kubrick's cinema is, in its own way, "grotesque"... even Eyes Wide Shut, for example, which seems like such a serious film, with that famous and surreal "let's fuck!" placed just a second before the credits, almost forces a reconsideration of the entire film from a different perspective... perhaps the only film by Kubrick that is wholly "tragic" and free from any possible ambiguity is "Paths of Glory," heartfelt, painful, transparent, and overtly anti-militaristic...

Well... I don't understand why when it comes to rock, "strange" reviews get a default 5, while in cinema, God help you if you make a mistake... 5 and praise, take that!
