I mean, old Marty is a storyteller at heart... yes, he uses a lot of editing, there are loads of shots in his films, but it’s not an analogggggic editing (as the surveyor Calboni used to say).

Indeed, I too was a bit perplexed by Moustache's comment... It seems to me that Scorsese highlights all the pettiness, conformity, and moral corruption of the aristocracy in this film... The poor are absent from the movie because Scorsese was interested in something else... Moreover, it doesn’t seem like a comedy at all, but a melodrama...

seemingly an exception in Scorsese's filmography, in reality both the style and the content are in line with his artistic journey...there's a mechanism that crushes the protagonist's life, that directs it, that determines it: it is the film that declares the defeat of the individual against that web called "society"

Wonderful Greg! One of the most beautiful reviews I've ever read. You really hit the nail on the head with the band’s proposal from Graffin: "Bad Religion show us their way to freedom while shattering the fundamental creeds of rock." The album is great, but inferior to No Control (of course!). Congrats again!!!
