Well done, this review is very smooth... I've heard them mentioned more than once... are you in a shoegaze phase, bjorky? :-)

Well, emo-core was born from dischord...embrace, ROS, fugazi...never heard of jawbox but everyone talks badly about them (except you)...anyway, for those who love Minor Threat, I highly recommend the compilation "Flex Your Head" from 1982, which also features Teen Idles (McKay's first band) with a blazing cover of "No Fun" by the Stooges, the SOA of H. Garfield (that is Rollins, yes him) and the great Red C...continuing through the labels, there was also Twin Tone (Minneapolis) and a famous one from Boston (I can't remember the name)...

fest, how can you like dischord? for all the 80s, before fugazi showed up, everyone sounded like Minor Threat! :-))

mmmmmmm, "No Control" lukewarm? not really eh :-))) I, on the other hand, have always found Social Distortion a bit bland...

"that speech can be made for the Boston of Dinosaur Jr and Pixies, or at most for the Los Angeles of Jane's Addiction, or at the limit for Black Flag." <<< I would also add Wipers, Meat Puppets, Flipper and others that I can’t think of right now.

admirable review for the depth and richness of information: you even mentioned the legendary TSOL, you're great! In the meantime, let's get the fuel ready for Tyler Durden! ;-P

I listened to this album a lot when I was in high school... I haven't played it in years (except in a friend's metalhead car)... in its genre, it’s a cornerstone... I'm not too convinced by the last two songs, including the celebrated Under A Glass Moon...

@Bjorky: don't worry, you can write whatever you want in my reviews. ;-) @Fest: for me, the Melvins have little to do with grunge: they developed a sound that was later picked up by certain grunge bands, but otherwise they've taken different paths (from my perspective, grunge is mainly about songs, with their nice melodies). Anyway, I believe you misunderstood my "long faces." You're talking about noisy bands that are into garage: fine... I don’t deny that they might have had fun making all that racket, but that doesn’t exclude the fact that the mood of their music is generally sick, gloomy, distressed... try listening to the Fastbacks and you’ll realize what it means to have a blast and make a racket!!! :-)))
