fantastic review, gr...the introduction is priceless, perfectly on theme...indeed, when you listen to a voice like Mitchell's and simultaneously think of the squinzie from television, the contrast can only be piercing...

Well, there's no doubt they're niche (at least Zeit), but I don't see why those who listen to and appreciate them should be assumed to have earplugs... great review...

Well, simple (maybe): punk is this side of the Atlantic, hardcore is over there :-D punk is attributed to the UK, hc to the States... generally, that's how it's said... but there are those who think differently, for example: Discharge (English) are often defined as hardcore, while Social Distortion (Americans) are sometimes considered a punk band... I believe that the difference, besides being geographical, is stylistic: hardcore is twice as fast as punk... punk (Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Sham 69, Stiff Little Fingers) usually has a steady but not frantic rhythm, and various ties with garage rock, Detroit, and certain "glam" American bands from the 70s like NY Dolls and Dictators (for example, a frequent, albeit "degenerated," use of the classic two chords of boogie, which were so widespread in the 70s)... then there's the singing: generally, in punk, the singing is chant-like, mocking, vulgar... hardcore, on the other hand, is more intense, songs sometimes last under a minute, and the singing is more shouted and tormented... these things generally hold true, but (as we know) there are three thousand exceptions... at least that's how I see it...

Between Scratch and Lizard, it's quite a battle... the JL are more "perfect," more geometric... but the Scratch Acid had that touch of surrealism, that eccentricity and eclecticism that makes them inimitable: a tie!

Really beautiful this movie, but get rid of that ridiculous viking! :-)) The review is nice, but it's not true that this was the first "war" film in which "at the end of the avalanche of punches the good guys don't win, simply because it's not clear who the hell they could be."

Get "The Greatest Gift" (which is practically their entire discography: 28 tracks, including their only LP, two EPs, and some unreleased songs): a must-have album!

@alessio: I listened to the first 3 songs... not bad at all... in fact, they remind me a lot of Jesus Lizard... the singer has a lot of charisma... there's a certain cabaret vibe to them... I'll listen to the other songs tomorrow... thanks for the tip.

Sure that we've been beating the Germans for a year now: last year Juve knocked out Werder and Milan dealt Bayern a blow, Italy crushed Germany in a friendly... then there was the World Cup and we handed them two goals at their place... and now another Italian team eliminates a German!!! :-)))

Sorry Alessio, I understand the point you're making regarding the incompatibility between the "ideology" of the Guns and that of the MT (hard-rock vs hardcore; hedonism vs reflection; chauvinism vs tolerance; irresponsibility vs social awareness; fun vs commitment... and so on...). But have you ever considered the fact that a person might feel the need, depending on the moments, situations, emotional states, to listen alternately to one AND the other group? I believe that for anyone, there is a time for getting drunk and a time for "bending the head"...
