...but what the hell kind of speech are you giving? Haven't you read? I said that if she earns, it’s good for her SINCE SHE HAS AN INDEPENDENT LABEL and rightly needs to balance the books. Getting back to serious matters, I read XL's review and it expresses my own views on the record.

...you reach a point where you are free and you listen to everything without prejudice, and that is very beautiful to me.

I found it interesting and I’ve listened to so many of those records that I now think I have a bit of critical judgment. A good product, not exceptional, and if it sells, good for her since she is independent.

For me, it’s a somewhat sterile job. Polished and shiny, the electronic drum stands out awkwardly in many tracks, and "Mai nessun video mai" is, in my opinion, a plagiarism of "Cut It Away" by Jackson Browne from the LP "Lawyers In Love" from '82. The melody of the chorus is practically identical.

"Music" was well made, not "XL," which is really terrible...

...and yes, because XL is a great music magazine...but please, I don't know their review and I don't want to know it.

George Harrison Somewhere in England
Voto:
Harrison as a solo artist is too underrated, but so is McCartney, while Lennon receives overly favorable judgments. One can certainly say that he produced enjoyable and sometimes truly important works ("All Things Must Pass"); as a lyricist, his ironic vein stands out, a British sarcasm of a well-versed quite-man, but the spiritual component is also very much felt, especially the contrast between the spiritual and the material world ("Living In The Material World"). Unfortunately, at times he struggled to express himself, as he couldn't stand the music industry and its deadlines, which is why weak if not bad works were released without much concern ("Dark Horse" and "Extra Texture"). Nevertheless, he is a writer worth getting to know.
