Now I've also read the review: almost on par with the album, I’d say: ā€œa great rock songā€ hahahaha ā€œJohn Norum delivers a beautiful soloā€ which solo? Those four notes played like dogs? It’s the most banal stuff one could imagine! A solo like that could be played by Green Day, for crying out loud... ā€œMichaeli on keyboards creates one of the most famous riffs in the worldā€: damn, that’s interesting. I really didn’t know you could make riffs with keyboards. Imagine, I’m so dumb that I thought riffs were only made with electric guitars! Anyway, yes, the keyboard solo is truly psychedelic, I’d say pure experimentation. It could be a ringtone: this ā€œgreat masterpiece of rockā€ is nothing but 4 repeated notes throughout the entire piece with that bitch of a singer screaming over it obnoxiously ā€œIt's the final countdownā€ā€¦ by the way, download the translation of the lyrics, one of the deepest and most poetic I’ve ever heard. There’s no trace of heroic American patriotism, no.

"Trivially, I could get away with saying that if the dt are like this, it’s because they are... Americans." What a joke! Antonio, have you ever listened to the transatlantic (I simulate a gag reflex)? 4.5. Well, now I’m off to eat the panettone and rewatch The Godfather... bye guys and Merry Christmas! (This is getting dangerously close to being a family, huh? :-)))

"The atmosphere is unreal and soothing, the arrangement superb, the timeless melody, Roberto's final vocalizations, unattainable as always, and the guitar solo, the true heart of the song, in a word, heavenly." The solo for me is nothing special, the song is similar to countless other hard rock ballads even though it remains pleasant.

Antò, I’ve made a note to look these up. You find the nosound with the album "sol29," which was also reviewed here on debaser by logic probe. They’re from Rome and create a visionary ambient sound that’s very Floydian, with stunning and psychedelic guitar solos. I obviously hate Dream Theater; I find their technique to be an end in itself. To me, their music is trivial and devoid of messages, without "reinterpretations"... because here we’re not talking about inventing (no one really invents anything anymore) but about "reinterpreting." That’s what the Porcupine Tree does, drawing from the past but adding their own ideas (see Deadwing or Lightbulb Sun). The Dream Theater, on the other hand, just copy the great progressive bands of the past, bringing nothing of their own. They’re bland, lacking personality, a group that would be just like all the others, IF THEY DIDN’T HAVE THEIR FORMIDABLE TECHNIQUE. Technique is the means to express music, not the goal. The goal is to conceive. In one track, DT sounds like Pink Floyd, in another they sound like King Crimson or Rush or ELP. It’s like in a painting, right? What matters is not how it’s made, the technique (though if that’s there too, even better), but the message that the artist wants to convey or the emotions they want to evoke in the observer. Anyway, I find the entirety of modern progressive metal to be like this... zero ideas: trivial songs with outbursts of cold and useless technicality. Technicality only makes sense to me if it’s well complemented. Guys, also get the beautiful "Yanqui Uxo" by Godspeed You Black Emperor! They create truly exceptional ambient music. Merry Christmas to you all.

Enrico, I have never forgiven you for giving a 5 to that bunch of forty-year-old right-wingers who pretend to be street rock revolutionaries with a voice that is IDENTICAL to that of Marco Masini. The Vanadium.
