The original title of this album was supposed to be "Emotional fascism," which I believe was changed at the record label's request. In fact, I see that many of Costello's essential albums are still missing on Debaser. I think that for the Italian listener, Costello is quite prone to be misunderstood; especially his early albums have a somewhat dated sound, ABBA style, which people may or may not like. Nevertheless, in terms of lyrics, he is simply a genius, truly among the most complex and rich songs that can be found in pop music.

The arrangement of Nova Gelosia is actually taken straight from the Napoletana by Roberto Murolo, an anthology of Neapolitan popular music (it can be found in volume 1). In fact, it's a sort of tribute to Maestro Murolo, who will reciprocate by singing Don Raffae. Without taking anything away from the album, which deserves a full 5.

I've never heard these, but I adore the Pogues, so maybe I should listen to them. Fisherman's Blues, if I'm not mistaken, is a traditional piece.
