I'm listening to all of Mercury Rev's discography again.. the early stuff has such an anarchy that it doesn't completely satisfy me.. but even this phase leaves me with a perplexing sense of superficiality that I can't shake off.. they seem, after all, a bit "vain," you know.. despite that, this album contains some of the most beautiful arrangements I've ever heard.

To me personally, "are you afraid of the dark" seems like one of the most overrated albums in history... at least by the Italian audience. The band in general is a bit fluff, although there were some nice tracks here.

mmmm it will be.. but even in the last productions, in my opinion, there were beautiful songs paired with questionable tracks.. this kind of electronic turn doesn’t really bode well.
