Nick Drake Way to Blue
Voto:
You could have at least mentioned that it's a best of... specifically, I would say there are only three tracks from "pink moon" and that's a shame, but the value of this "introduction to Nick Drake" is absolute.

I went away with nothing left but faith... there's not much to do, the first 4 albums by The Cure feel tattooed on me. A really well-written review, full of insights.
Blind Melon Soup
Voto:
I don't seem to have written that Blind Melon played grunge, but rather that at the time of their first album they were placed in that melting pot, especially due to a couple of singles like "I Wonder." In fact, I added that they were very different from grunge, as they played "a varied roots-rock that easily evaded the traps of déjà-vu in the American context of the time." Bye!
Dinosaur Jr. Where You Been

One of the albums I listened to the most during my long-gone adolescence.....I would have quoted "Hide," a masterpiece in the vein of Crazy Horse's "rust never sleeps." Today I struggle to listen to it again; I prefer those from the SST period and "without a sound," in my opinion less obsessed with the Crazy Horse ghost and a bit more carefree.

for ali murtac. Chino Moreno is a huge fan of Ride; it’s no coincidence that he made an album with a band called Team Sleep, which clearly connects to the shoegaze experience. Obviously, Deftones are a nu metal band, but they have many components among them. Fundamentally, they rely on the guitarist, who pushes in a loud and heavy direction, and Moreno, a fan of many British bands, who tries to steer everything towards the atmospheric. The blend of these two components generates the music of Deftones (an album like White Pony is clearly inspired by Ride).

comparing Freddie to Mozart seems excessive to me.....
Morcheeba Parts Of The Process

simply obscene: they couldn’t copy the Portishead, and when from "rome wasn't built in a day" they started doing something else, they deflated like a rotten pear.

a brief review for an absolute classic!

I agree with san-xo. A very school-like review that’s somewhat masturbatory, from a classic Brit pop worshipper trying to shove all the shades of the incredibly boring sound from across the Channel down our throats, summarizing instead of providing context... that said, the ride were one of the few decent bands, also due to their influences on many American groups (for example, the deftones).

Some insights from Ride were brilliant, and in certain episodes of "nowhere" it’s very clear. However, they never fully convinced me: after all, there’s only been one "Loveless."
