Nowadays, the Prodigy are one of the most important technobands around, having taken the world by storm with "The Fat Of The Land", reaching number one in 23 countries simultaneously. But not everyone knows that at the beginning of their artistic career, they were incredible movers at rave parties, and "Experience" released in 1992 was their musical confirmation.
Back then, all four had different roles in the band: Keith Flint was just a dancer (and what a dancer!), and Maxim Reality a decent MC. Nonetheless, Liam Howlett was already a genius!
The album is a little gem of its time. A musical testament that even today the band members carry with them on tour.
At the time, singles released included: "Charly", "Out Of Space", "Everybody In The Place", and "Fire". In short, it was a blast of a start even though true success came with "Music For The Jilted Generation" and their worldwide acclaim with "The Fat Of The Land".
The suite lasts almost 59 minutes in total, and there are 12 tracks if we consider the last track which is a live "Death Of The Prodigy Dancer", but that is not the reason I decided to give three out of five stars. The rating for this review was decided not only based on the good content of the CD but also on the level of maturity of the group that would only be confirmed with the next two albums.
Recommended only for genre enthusiasts!
"Experience is a gigantic sound cauldron where Jungle, Hardcore, Acid-Techno, Reggae, and Hip-Hop influences become one."
"A record that marked an era, thus, Experience, genuine, immediate, and devoid of that alternative-trendy lacquer."
