Tool 19/06/2006 Live @ Forum di Assago
Voto:
For the record: I was neither stoned nor drunk; the tools took care of doping me up properly... I hadn't noticed the already de-receding on the live (oh my, calling it de-receding...)... Hitting the bill has never been my strong suit (I actually had Aenima in doubt) but this time I exaggerated: those who know more about the titles suggested these tracks: lost keys/rosetta stoned
stinkfist
the pot
jambi
sober
schism
46 and 2
right in two
lateralus
vicarius
Aenima... enjoy!

Great review, great album (along with the mentioned Toto IV, it was one of the first records I ever bought - I was just a bit over 10 years old at the time!). You rightly mentioned Toto in "Human Nature," but the Porcaro brothers play on most of the tracks, accompanied by some serious musicians. That was the beauty of pop in the early '80s: it was genuinely played by musicians who came from prog and rock bands... then the synth came along, the drum machine... and that was the beginning of the end.

skyscraper is definitely uglier: plasticky and FM. Ladies' Nite In Buffalo remains my favorite song by Lee Roth with one of Vai's most beautiful solos (except for P%W, his absolute masterpiece).

But is it a review?? Why was it published?? If we then talk about Albano and Romina, who cares, but this is one of my all-time favorite albums: SACRILEGGIO!!!

Thank you, not receiving any insults is already a success ; ))))
I agree on the amplifiers (which I love but can seem "better" mainly due to their greater immediacy) for which I already have the review ready (even if, um, there's already one... what's done is done...).
The debut of Oceansize, however, is a bit superior to this, so do as you please...
Chevelle This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In)

Tastes are tastes, but I really love the Chevelle, and this is my favorite album of theirs. Of course, the "Maynardian" influence is clear, but having a voice similar to one of the greatest contemporary singers isn’t such a bad thing, is it? It's also true that they are the "pop" version of Tool—so what?? Do we have to force ourselves to listen to elevated music (often to feel cool), strange and underground (not referring to Tool)?? Impact, simplicity, and melody are their strengths. "The Clincher" makes me headbang from start to finish, with "Get Some" my throat burns so much that I scream, "Vitamin R" has one of the most beautiful melodies ever, "Still Running" doesn’t do it for me, "Breach Birth" has a crazy Tool-like intro, "Panic Prone" doesn’t do it for me either, and "Another Know It All" has an awesome offbeat rhythm... is that enough for you?? Anyway, they’re still alive and kicking, even if the bass bro (there were three brothers) has left. The successor to TTON is one of the albums I'm most eagerly awaiting... but I'm superficial, so that doesn’t count. Now, I’ll ruin your career on NZ before you even start it ;)

Come on, this album is so disastrous, really. If I'm not mistaken, they are bringing back the old Tempesta (formerly White Zombie).

"shinobi vs dragon ninja" still rocks today, but the debut ended up being neither here nor there (50% good tracks, 50% unbearable screams). Then I saw them live and they dropped 40 million points in my book... the singer with the Michael Jackson glove from the old days, little tie, and a look like a dork always ready to fix his hair every 5 seconds... please... and they passed themselves off as the new blood of metal: already dead after 2 albums!

Remixing a masterpiece like Broken was risky, but starting with such great tracks, it was also fairly easy to achieve a good product. A little note on the cover: it’s identical to Broken, but while that one leaned towards yellow with an interior that opened in four, this one leans towards blue and the interior is ordinary.
