THE REVIEW

I labeled this album as Nu-Metal as I believe this is their genre unless the band, who claim they are rock, denies it! Well... it then depends on what kind of rock they play... It remains that I had a wonderful coup de foudre with this group since I knew them before they recorded their demo, which later became their first album. I've known them forever (these are not the usual words of fake experts). The artwork is meticulously detailed, gothic style, a perfectly fitting title, and a very famous character on the cover.

Their first work was "TheFakeSoundOfProgress", an album that I thought was beautiful, raw, and even in appearance not very polished. This one doesn't differ much from the previous one, even though it gives a bit of a nod to MTV. It starts with "We Still Kill the Old Way" introduced with very well-done guitar work. Skipping the second track, we find the most successful single, at least in Italy, namely "Last Train Home", which glides by without being noticed. "Make A Move" sounds like a piece by the new, awful Bizkit. "Burn Burn", the track that introduced the album is nice and makes you want to shake your butt and head. Then comes a trio of soft and syrupy songs, namely "I Don't Know", "Hello Again", "Goodbye Tonight". The title track has a strong and original structure. I like "A Million Miles" quite a bit. "Last Summer" is another excerpt from this work. Personally, I don't like it at all. "We Are Godzilla You Are Japan" is my favorite. A bit of commercial hardcore, nothing more, but it convinces me and I believe that in this direction the next Lostprophets should work. I hadn't mentioned yet that the band consists of two singers, as is fashionable now. One sings, the other does it all. He screams, DJs, and plays keyboards.

We await the next work hopeful for a less commercial turn because the capabilities of this band are many, and it would be a shame to waste them.

Ps. (the mysterious character on the cover is Justin Timberlake (of all people).

Lostprophets

Lostprophets were a Welsh band frequently discussed (in these reviews) as moving from nu-metal/crossover beginnings toward more radio-friendly pop/rock and stadium-anthem writing, with Start Something often cited as a key crossroads release.

"This LP remains the group’s best work, maybe one day they will change their mind, return to their roots, go back to making good music and getting drunk in British pubs."

"The new 'Liberation Transmission' is just the latest part of an involution process as well as a self-destructive one that has brought more money into the pockets of Ian Watkins and company."

"The band presents the classic mix of melody & aggression, where the former prevails."
