The Kills Keep On Your Mean Side

I’ve only accidentally listened to one of their songs, but I almost mistook the singer's voice for Lou Reed's!! If these are the premises... I don’t even feel like listening to this original band…

Well, with this sort of anonymous AR review, the reviewer reconfirms themselves as one of the worst reviewers on the site (forgive the pun..). An album that oozes legend from every note, pure blues laced with rock. Let’s never forget that it’s the blues heart that pulses behind the music of the Doors. This absolute masterpiece is one of those manifestos of musical purity, it can only come from a Dionysian source of genius. And Jim's voice, too...you can almost feel the sensation of death. I'm putting it back on right away...

Eclipse, you've defined Vasco exactly for what he is: a money-eating machine. You've hit the nail on the head, I completely agree. Music is something else: art, one of its best expressions. In Italy, they have never seen this (except for a few rare exceptions).

GIORRRRGIO, I’m responding to your provocative question: I’m 23 years old and I’ve been listening to music practically since I learned to walk, so if you think I’m just some excitable newbie, let me clarify something fundamental.
In the booklet of the first album by Nine Inch Nails: NINE INCH NAILS IS TRENT REZNOR. They are not a band, but a project entirely born in Reznor’s mind—he writes, arranges, produces, mixes, is the artistic director, etc. Once the album is written, he calls in the band for tours (it’s clear that there are more or less regular musicians).
Then let me add a few other things that might clarify your ideas... if you look at any rankings written by serious and renowned critics, you’ll find "The Downward Spiral" among the top 5 most important albums of the '90s, and not far behind "The Fragile." Or take a look at the abundant reviews online. By the way, just for the record, legends like Lou Reed and David Bowie have a sort of reverence for Reznor (not exactly household names), the same goes for Johnny Cash, who also did a magnificent cover of "Hurt"; he’s one of the most sought-after producers (see the soundtracks of Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers and David Lynch's Lost Highway), MILLIONS of fans worldwide (they’re less known in Italy, but the reason is the widespread musical ignorance on a national scale). The list is long... but that should suffice, and not to make you like Nine Inch Nails, mind you (I couldn’t care less, and that would be quite a barbaric act), but to help you understand that serious artists, otherwise known as greats, otherwise known as rock legends, deserve RESPECT.

I also add (I'm also addressing Ale) that my metric for judgment is not the number of copies sold, you geniuses. I stated very clearly that David Bowie has been at the top of the charts for 40 years WITH MUSIC THAT IS ALWAYS CUTTING-EDGE (have you ever heard of Earthlink, just to name one?), not selling to pop-loving teenagers or jokers like Vasco.
It's better if you don't even comment on Reznor, because among other things, you don't even know that he writes and arranges all the songs for his albums (and then calls musicians for the tours). And the example of Downward Spiral, also misunderstood, was to help you understand that it's such a brilliant and important album that it reached millions of people despite being completely uncommercial—quite the opposite, in fact. And this is something that deserves respect. P.S.: asking for respect is not imposing my ideas; it's about avoiding throwing gratuitous crap on SERIOUS artists, otherwise known as LEGENDS. Did I manage to explain myself or can you two just not get it?

Dear GIORRRRGIO, if you had followed my advice to count before opening your mouth, you would have realized that it's you who hasn’t understood A DAMN THING about Duloz's terrible comment: in fact, the first part is a sentence taken from one of my previous comments (up to the point); then he adds that David Bowie is overrated like Lopez's ass. Certainly a comprehension problem, huh?

MACCIO CAPADIMERDA, go back to the sewer from which you came. If you are the number 1 on the site, I like Vasco Rossi. Your arrogance, which you spread freely on this site, is probably only matched by your intelligence quotient. Regards.

DEAR ANONYMOUS (Duloz), David Bowie is another one of those legends who, even if they get on your nerves to the point of keeping you awake at night, deserve the word RESPECT. 40 years at the top of the charts and always musically up to date, always ahead of the curve; A complete artist like very few others. Maybe you should listen to a bit more and COUNT TO 10 before opening your mouth. (But I agree about Lopez's ass)

DEAR GIORRRRGIO, I do not count Trent Reznor among the greats of music, HE IS. There’s a slight difference. He might piss you off as you have not failed to demonstrate, but dear Trent is probably the only one who sold MILLIONS of copies with one of the least commercial albums in history. I'm talking about "The downward spiral," in case you didn’t understand. If he gets on your nerves, fine, but RESPECT is a word that should enter your vocabulary. Regards.

Who knows, Mikey, who knows. Can you imagine what a mishmash would come out of it? The young people listening to such a record would be torn between suicide and auditions for Big Brother. Thanks for the gourmet... and you know what? I'm starting to like you, I've changed my mind about you even though you dismissed Fragile! If you give me another review that's a bit more objective, I might almost idolize you. See you soon!
