I remember now something funny because it’s closely related to my journey, and I've always wondered if it was random or planned... Who knows why the trains heading to Lecco or Tirano (my destination) were always next to those heading to Turin and Lecce.... Bastards of the EffEsse???.. I know people who, in their hurry, boarded the train to Turin… which luckily made intermediate stops :)

I don't remember who... maybe a professor from university... or perhaps some book on the history of architecture... maybe the latter; anyway, someone defined the central station as "neo-Egyptian" which, at the time of my studies, when the central station was a daily obligation, seemed appropriate to me... But "Assyrian-Milanese" isn't bad either. What can I say? The central station is tied to all my arrivals and departures to and from university... and with them all the cigarettes smoked during the waits, the shady characters encountered by chance, the poorly maintained restrooms near platform 3/4 frequented by a varied and colorful humanity, the boards displaying delays, a wild search I underwent because a drug-sniffing dog followed me wagging its tail..., the ticket agents (usually jerks) who couldn't understand a thing about foreign languages, the almost complete lack of seating for waiting, the nasty(!) stinky and dry piles on display - proof that retreating was also used from a train stopped at the station... and so on, I could go on for an hour or more... But what has always fascinated me, and where I once ended up, are the underground areas of the station where a subculture of people lives, engineers, railway workers, warehouses, etc... In short, an underground stationary city, beneath the city that departs and arrives... How beautiful! And what can I say about the double, triple-height atrium when you enter? Breathtaking! Great memories, thank you for this dive into the past (not distant... but past...)

Great review! Maybe the BHP – seen at a not-so-great concert in Milan at the Magazzini Generali (terrible venue since the BHP had already finished playing by 10:30 PM... to make way for a terrible disco night…) – should take a break for a while and allow space for the new ideas of 3 Mile Pilot… I don't know, they seemed a bit tired to me…
