I also recommend purchasing the box set The Wumme Years; in addition to the included discs, there is the illuminating booklet that is worth as much as a well-crafted biography.

Indeed, there are those who speak of this album as the connecting link between the early BHP (those of the other masterpiece "2") and the penultimate Amore Del Tropico, which is more structured and definitely more Pop (a definition to be taken with a grain of salt when talking about them). For the Three Mile Pilot, we wait confidently and in anticipation.

birobiro of course you can, in fact if you write one like the Afghan's or the Melvins', a free year's supply of Ovomaltine. But if you do it on No Doubt: just orzobimbo.

"...the only statement WITH WHICH I do not agree..." pardon, I should reread myself when posting a message.

Well done Vì, very heartfelt as they say in these cases. I have many things to say, quite confused, about this album; let’s see if I can manage. The only statement I disagree with (and it's a bit of a silly one) is the "minimalist tone" of this record. I find that instead there are denser textures, from the drums to the guitars which, in some moments, sound more electric and come close (but never reach) to Three Mile Pilot, another great band of Pall Jenkins (by the way, as announced by him in an interview, Three Mile Pilot will be reunited next year and they already have some material ready, I am excited). Then there’s the prominently featured violin, which I always enjoy. The openings of The Spell and The Replacement are very thriller-like, as are the first words of the album spoken by Jenkins in Tangled: "There is a place.. where I stay... near the sea..", the burst of light with Not Just Words, which could even be defined as a sunny song compared to the rest of BHP's production. The sequence of the songs makes you think of a film—indeed, BHP's music seems made for a movie, of course without a happy ending as I like it. Finally, one of the peaks of the album, both musically and lyrically, is the big ballad The Letter: "In the letter that I wrote.. were the words I never spoke.. this is why I can't come home...". I am under a spell as well and I enjoy it: for me, it’s not just a good album, it’s a masterpiece.
