Well, I don't even consider it a Purple album, to be honest. When the fundamental pillars of a band are missing (imho), we're no longer talking about the same band, but rather another one with the same name. Just try to imagine, I don't know, Zeppelin without Page and/or Plant: would they be the same? No. If a member's contribution in terms of style or composition is significant, their absence is felt deeply. Of course, you can achieve an even better sound, but it's not the same thing anymore. And I don't like this.
