Esoteric. No compromise.

Even though I’ve practically abandoned the genre for a long time, this remains a great classic.

I listened to them just yesterday, what can I say? Crazy, amazing, and incredibly entertaining. They made silly music but with exceptional talent.
Gorguts From Winsdom To Hate

Well, actually "Subconscious.." is the most "accessible", the older ones are way worse! We're talking about double albums with a total length of over an hour and a half containing psychedelic Doom/Death slowed down to the point of absurdity. If too-slow music bores you, you'd better stay away. Anyway, I'm glad you already know them.

Congratulations Tepes, I must admit that besides being a tank when it comes to writing reviews, you always do it with passion and accurate analysis. It's not that I'm not used to extreme music, but I usually avoid Brutal Death almost by default (with a few rare exceptions) due to the idiotic iconography (just look at Cannibal Corpse). However, your review is inviting, and I commit to listening to these Gorguts sooner or later, especially since these "listening endurance challenges" intrigue me. And speaking of challenges, if you want to take one on, try listening to an entire album by Esoteric, preferably the older ones, so we can see who can withstand it the longest (the hearing!)

My Dying Bride The Voice Of The Wretched

Hi Fidia, there are two essential albums by My Dying Bride: "Turn Loose The Swans," which I personally consider the best Doom/Gothic record ever, and "The Angel And The Dark River," which many others regard as the number 1 from the English band. In any case, both are universally valuable records that every genre lover should have. Let’s be clear, the rest of their discography is also of great importance, but I recommend saving "34.788% Complete" and "Like Gods Of The Sun" for last; they're not bad, but for different reasons, they don’t completely succeed. The live album I reviewed can also be a good idea to start with, as it is not only impeccable but also thoroughly covers their entire career.

Hi Adriano, the only ones that come to mind right now are The Gathering, with a female voice, or Tiamat or Moonspell, which are much more focused on Gothic.
