Piero Umiliani To-Day's Sound

Finally, the Maestro on DeB. The sound that inspired the lounge (Trovajoli, Alessandroni and the like) is the most stylish and, for me, the most innovative. Top-class soundtracks that still don't age. Also worth listening to are "La legge dei gangsters," "Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso," and "La ragazza dalla pelle di luna." One of his heartbreaking tracks was also featured in the film Ocean Eleven.

A life lived in music, poetry, and little else. A beautiful page. A heartfelt welcome, Eugenio.

Beautiful text written with the passion that this singer deserves. And let's give credit to the Germans at K7 for helping to promote him into a new life. ps: to this day, the links all redirect to casapagina :(
Basement Jaxx Atlantic Jaxx Recordings: A Compilation

A beautiful tribute to two gentlemen who have innovated a genre. It's not easy to create tracks that are not only listenable but also extremely danceable.

I like how you describe the evolution of reggae. I agree on the beauty of "living" the dancehall experience. On the other hand, in Jamaica, music is essential, and you hear it everywhere. The importance of singles, often self-produced, is at the core of the success of this genre. Thus, compilations often become more fascinating than the personal albums of the artists. And often many of these struggle to last in the long run. Perhaps that's the case with Tanya too?
John Cale Music For A New Society

We soar high, very high, around here. I miss almost everything about Cale, including this which seems essential and where I find an urgency and inspiration that leaves me breathless, like in the wonderful SONGS FOR DRELLA.

Thank you everyone. Populous is another name to keep an eye on and I believe they have collaborated with these other "Italians abroad." At least with PILLOW, which I recommend for the review and also the very autumnal album.

Interesting but not very original. In my opinion, it overdoes it: in the abundance of instruments, in the singing, in the production, but maybe it's just that I prefer distinctly electronic sounds.
