The Knife Silent Shout

On the blog www.weekendance.com, Fabio De Luca has written a text of poignant beauty for Ferragosto. Walking after many years in a vacation spot from his childhood/adolescence, he imagines finding himself in conversation with the part of him that remained frozen in that time. Now, if my 13-year-old self were to ask me what music I listen to now, he would surely smile to hear me answer The Knife. The album is well-made, at times irresistible... and I completely agree with the déjà vu mood of the review. 3.5, but nostalgia drives me to be generous.
Vinicio Capossela Ovunque proteggi

For all Vinicio lovers, there’s a beautiful page in today's Repubblica. It’s a report by Rumiz on the Apennines. The stage in question was traversed alongside Capossela in a Topolino near Calitri (Vinicio's motherland). Besides being wonderfully written, it conveys a lot about our bard...

I'm staying tuned, Odra, and I'm restless in anticipation of the upcoming reviews that "should" interest me. By chance, they might be about the new dub-industrial-electro-pop sounds that go under the name of dubstep. Aside from the labels, there are quite interesting little things happening over there, like VARIOUS and BURIAL.

Great proposal. I'm on the hunt. The most interesting one from Odra for me is "A life without fear" by Ekkehard Ehlers. I've listened to part of it and I'm waiting for the original before giving a final judgment, but from what I've heard, this heartbreaking work by the German seems like a contender for album of the year 2006. Domotic I believe came out in 2005.

I don't know them, but Hutz is a great guy. Not bad as an actor (and not bad the movie "Everything is Illuminated" even if it's based on an amazing novel). He himself was a DJ-host at a venue (I think in Miami) that made history by bringing together nomads and pure debauchers who love bastard and frantic rhythms.

Adolescents + Social Distortions, Rikk Agnew also released an album under his own name.

Great tribute. This album (on CD for the legendary Epitaph) is essential for the US dark-gothic scene. An ideal alter ego of the debut album by Bauhaus in the UK. It seems that back in the day Peter Murphy accused Rozz of mimicking his themes and stage poses...

Tasty and picturesque narration. I don't think I will venture into this black forest, but just reading it has been a wonderful experience.

Regarding the scarcity of comments (now however more numerous) that you complained about above, Socrates, I believe that the causes are varied (distraction, timing, untraceable record, notoriety of the reviewer, unknown group...). And often these are inscrutable causes because, as Odra says, sedimentation or word of mouth are not enough to explain, for example, how a review of an album like "Beyond Skin," one of the most significant and beautiful of an era, has been almost ignored. I mention that not so much because it bears my signature (after all, my aim was simply to include a fundamental album) but because it allows for a comparison with the one you wrote about NITIN SAWHNEY, which received far more comments and visits. Despite the fact that you remarked on a certain disheartenment there as well. This is to say that ultimately what matters is the gesture (of love for music), the thought, and the effort to publish valuable content on a virtual board. Of course, one can lament that those who comment are almost always the same. Even in the face of numerous visits. Perhaps Deb is full of curious and shy people who read (absorb or consume the page) without leaving a trace. I prefer to think of it this way rather than believing in the growing difficulty of expressing oneself.

Mouth-watering review. I used to like Madredeus in their early days, but then it seemed to me they were relying on a cliché. Here, judging by the names involved, I don't think one would get bored. I'll give it a listen.
