Oh my goodness, what a review.. it's wonderful: a perfect balance of technical analysis, critique, and personal commentary. Well done, I was truly impressed.

..no way itching!!.. I also happened to see it right in the middle of the zagarelle period.. between this and the scene in "Under Siege" where Erika Eleniak pops out of the cake, I admit I've probably lost a good couple of diopters.:DD! Bye!

@Bubi:..yes yes, for heaven's sake!! I absolutely didn’t mean it as a criticism!..I swear!:)))! I just wanted to let off some steam for my ego..:DD! Hi, and since I didn't mention it earlier, congrats on the review!

Mister Wolf - lots of cream, lots of sugar - the least successful character in the movie?!?!..nooooooooo!!!!!!! Personally, I've never been too thrilled by Butch's sequence: eggplant men, little bellies, and various shoe shops kind of dry me out after a while..(except of course for the part in the basement!!:DD). Bye!

Congratulations on your extremely refined writing: very personal, ironic, and cultured. It's a shame that the film is, in my opinion, at times unbearable!.. it's yet another rehashing of Ozpetek's stereotypes: a group of friends with varied sexual tastes as a winning alternative to the bourgeois family in crisis (the unlikely marriage of Accorsi-Buy) perpetually sitting around the table, drug addiction in the background, a choral finale à la "The Big Chill," etc., etc... in short: the usual stretched-out mess for something like two hours of film. On a technical level, the interesting ideas are just a couple (the long take of the Accorsi-Ferrari meeting, the close-up dressing of Argentero... and not much else). Personally, I found it rather trivial... many themes remain a bit in the background or are handled with excessive superficiality and good-naturedness (e.g.: what to do with the deceased?!... is the decision up to the family or the partner?!... big stuff, wrapped up with tarallucci, wine, and sugar). In short, I really didn't like it!:DD! Bye, and congratulations again!

Very well done indeed.. talking about this film in an organic way is very difficult as there are so many elements that contribute to making it a masterpiece. I truly believe you wrote an excellent review. This was my first Kurosawa film.. and from here started a real "film hunt"! :DD!.. among his "most beautiful films" (besides those you mentioned, Rashomon is my favorite!!) I would also include the poignant Rhapsody in August. Congratulations again. Bye!
