MotiveTime Dragon's Lair (NES)

As far back as I can remember, the entire Dragon's Lair saga has helped to redefine the very concepts of "shitty game," "zero playability," and "goddamn." A scenario would start and you'd die immediately. You’d restart, manage to take a step and die. You’d restart, take a step, jump, and die. You’d restart, step, jump, knife, and die. And so ON FOREVER. They should make students play this in schools to teach kids how much better it is to go outside and kick a ball than to stay home and mummify themselves in front of a screen.

In reality, the 5 is completely justified. Although, of course, it needs to be contextualized. The first 3 albums by Digger are not exactly masterpieces (the only one that deserves a solid passing grade is HM Breakdown), but over time they managed to sharpen their aim. Already with The Reaper and Heart of Darkness, there was a noticeable improvement in compositional quality: the technical level was always and undeniably impressive, but the songs were more structured and the songwriting more effective. When this album was released, it literally blew everyone's mind. Partly because it was the golden age of German power metal, partly because, upon closer inspection, there really was something original for the time (Bolthendal's voice, the Scottish concept, the bagpipes), and partly because it objectively was a very well-conceived and well-executed album. They still remained hopeless boars, but the overwhelming feeling is that they truly had an insight and developed it in the best possible way.

The ironic thing is that if all the reviews were like this, this place would return to its beloved heyday in just 2 months. 10 lines or so and you get a sense of what you can find, you go on YouTube, you go on Soulseek, listen, come back to comment, ask for tips on other similar groups, interact with other users, and the party is instantly on. Reviews maybe of lesser-known stuff, reviews that aren't just assignments, reviews made to share something, reviews by people who don’t spend their lives leaving messages on playlists and drooling over some rankings, but are interested in discovering and helping others discover good music.

Good morning, dear ones. I apologize for the somewhat naif page, but I was too curious to test the automatic publishing, and last night there was the right opportunity. As for the rest: @Macaco: damn, it didn't even occur to me that you might know them!! At this point, I ask you to make up for my usual shortcomings, to explain to us who the heck this ganja prophet is, Marcelo D2, and, especially, what "D2" stands for.

This one, on the other hand, really pissed me off. I liked the others because you talked in your own way about something that isn’t discussed much around here. With this one, though, you just jerked off to an album that anyone who wants to say they’ve listened to “music” has to know by heart. As usual, it only took two compliments thrown in to make the new acquisition lose his mind.

I saw that your previous review was a bit torn apart. As far as I'm concerned, it was one of the most "alive" pages I've read in a while on this site. I'm not talking about the quality of the writing (because, all in all, there are still some good reviewers around here), I'm referring to that slightly anarchic idea which perhaps is now a bit "old-school internet 2.0" of taking advantage of an online space to share something you like, in the way you like it, and see if it maybe ticks someone’s ear. I think the idea of automatic publication is not, in itself, a big problem. In fact, it could even awaken that horde of zombies that now lives in the limbo between the Listening List and the comments on definitions. It will end up being a problem, though, because the world is a mess and the breed is stupid. But not because of pages like yours. Just, for heaven's sake, at least have the decency to put some damn photos.

I had marked it to read because you are one of those who writes better around here. As Nestlè points out in a comment from these hours on another review, you are one of the very few (perhaps the only one) of the current reviewers who has truly grasped the spirit of this site. Or rather: who understands this site as I intended/intend it. You’re good, cornetto.

But the review is written very well; I don't see why it should be torn apart. I've never followed the MCs, but I think I would gladly take a look at the book. Well done.

On the review level, we’re obviously a couple of notches below absolute zero (Dudurudududu-du), but the lyrics (which I gather are by Caparezza) are quite cute, come on. The line "Lui, trecento lettere, letteratura fine Tu, centosessanta caratteri, due faccine, fine" is just togo! :))
