I solemnly promise: one day I will read all these really cool mysteries. Honestly. Cross my heart!

Perhaps a notch below my favorite Cave albums (The Good Son, The Firtsborn, Tender Pray...), but still a great work that exists between towering peaks and slightly less successful moments.

I don't know... I've watched a few of their videos on YouTube. From the little I've seen/heard, they seem like a simplification/recycling of super clichéd topoi from Celtic fairy tales or something like that. And there's the more or less innocent maiden, and there's the more or less enchanted forest, and there's the more or less jerk goblin, and there's the more or less poisoned fruit... Fairy tales - the "historical" ones, from the Brothers Grimm to Andersen - are "serious stuff"; there's inventiveness, maybe genius, behind their construction and conception. Not just a copy-and-paste of caricatures... I don't know!

I like these reviews that, in 7 lines and a cover, make me realize that I couldn't care less about the album. Well done!

Cormac McCarthy Oltre Il Confine
Voto:
A bit clichéd and with a few too many mistakes/repetitions for a book of rare power. Epic, I would say. Even moving in the part where Billy "saves" the she-wolf. Not my favorite of McCarthy (which, as of today, remains the horror western "Blood Meridian"), but still one of those reads to dive into like a sea over your head, to totally dedicate yourself to, as in a "stand by" from everything else. "The wolf is a being of a higher order, who knows things that men do not know."

Last night, I played Guitar Hero for the first time. Among the songs, there was Judith. I played it and managed to reach the end on my first attempt, eliciting amazement and admiration from the onlookers. Plus, I threw in some funny faces like a guitarist in a trance and some swagger moves like raising my guitar during the instrumental parts. For a handful of minutes, I was simultaneously eternally nerdy and eternally cool. I think I came in my pants.

Let's try with the nursery rhymes and see if someone new joins in: "IF WE WERE 5 DANCING THE ALLIGALLI BEFORE. NOW WE ARE 6 DANCING THE ALLIGALLI..."
