The fact remains that "clandestino" became a hit through word of mouth: the album was released at least 3 years before it became the success it was, the record label did nothing to promote it, especially since it was the product of more or less improvised recordings during Manu's trip to South America; I first heard it in a chiringuito on a cove in Ibiza: I remember everyone dancing like crazy on the tables long after sunset, no one excluded... I had to wait months to get the import record: 3 years later it was at the top of all the charts! When I listen to it, I remember that sunset in Ibiza and the boundless joy that its music conveyed to us, not the heavy rotation of Radio Deejay!!! Unforgettable, just like his live performances... a force of nature!
