great reception, beautiful style, stunning album, the best of the Boss by far (at least for me)

@mister-no: so happy to have met you... these are the true miracles of the Net... to answer you: no, I'm afraid it's just you and me in Italy... (anyway, let's keep an eye on the official site, because for Colin we do anything...) (primiballi.blogspot.com)

The similarities were there, oh yes... or at least that was what people wanted to see back then. Colin Hay himself admitted to a genuine admiration for Sting. Then again, the underlying musical proposals were different: the Police had a vastly different background that would emerge during their solo careers. The MAW, on the other hand, reflected, in my opinion, the pure singer-songwriter approach of their leader, which only became evident years later. Anyway, when it comes to white reggae (or however you want to define it)... those were the two bands, no debate about it... (primiballi.blogspot.com)

Poletti: your name always leaves me more perplexed... from how you write, often, you seem like a connoisseur and defender of the best of the '80s, and then you claim to be unaware of this operation, which at the time created more buzz than (almost) all the others, including Pink in Venice...??? Are we sure that your nickname is used by only one person...? And do you really know Sting deeply? Otherwise, it seems inexplicable how operations like this or the double "bring in the night" can't be appreciated by you for the greatness they represent (in my objective opinion)... mah...(so, as always, you won't reply...)

Nice review and an album that attracts. Sorry for my petty male chauvinism, but back in the days of "Per Elisa," how hot was she…???
Franco Battiato Come Un Cammello In Una Grondaia

Great review, I completely agree with your conclusion. This album, on the other hand, I tend to underestimate, as it seems a bit "slapdash" in my opinion. The only real gem is "povera patria." Also, even though it's not often mentioned, Battiato as a painter is quite lacking (after all, he can't be brilliant at everything... right...?).

Thank you all: on the left side I’ve ended up multiple times, and I must say that the only real added value is being visible for longer... every other consideration, especially qualitative, seems sterile to me, a bit objectively as well (of course... everything should be subjective, but on the left sometimes you really read some ugly stuff...). The record is beautiful, as Mullah perfectly puts it, it's very evocative for those who, that night, saw it live on TV and recorded it with one of the very first VHS tapes.... @fusillo: I don’t see the point in keeping the big orchestras "dead as a doornail".... theoretically, I'm completely against it... however, given the great professionalism of the 'mmerregani.... I must admit that often the results are excellent (I even came across a very recent double album of the Glenn Miller orchestra - can you believe it? - and it's objectively a great product...). For the few (at least on this page) who don't love Sting, the invitation is, as always, to rethink it, clearing the mind of all possible, and partially justified, superstructures... it’s beautiful... it’s geeky... etc...) have a cigar (fuoco) develops differently (indeed, it's Waters' own flour) from a melodic singing perspective, but the beginning is absolutely the same in all the parts: bass, drums, and especially keyboards and guitars (if you deny this, it simply means that you know nothing about music, in terms of harmony and instruments, but, for heaven's sake, it's not a crime...). self-citation? It could be, but it's always a double-edged sword. Anyway, you are the only one who considers Division a great album, and this reflects your age, first of all, for which you are not to blame but which inevitably conditions you, and your little objectivity. About the Boss: if you knew the lyrics of Tom Joad and considered that he wrote them after thirty years of career... well... maybe you wouldn’t speak so definitively. On the other hand, you find the lyrics of Gilmour's (by the way, beautiful) last album lovely, those feminine and pseudo New Age little poems...? Alright... anyway, for a myriad of reasons that I won't explain to you, I assure you that I have never made superficial listens (and please appreciate the attempt at a Franciscan calm in responding to your "arguments"....)

But if the parties, whatever they may be, are unable to provide answers (see the left in Campania and the right in Sicily) and indeed seize every opportunity to give excellent examples of complicity, then we must accept, challenging our pride and sensitivity, that this is (also) a deep problem of mentality and "cultural status," which can only be eradicated through a double "war": a cultural one at the level of school-family and other social formations, and a legal-police one at the level of public order and investigations. In practical terms: people need to understand that the state is stronger and that the shared values that promote growth are those of a Western-European nature, not this sort of anarchic feudalism, undercultured and incredibly dangerous. Certainly...: to the question "and who is thinking about this...?" I too do not have an answer to give today... and this is where the tragedy lies...
