Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

What I say (but everyone is free to think differently, of course) is that the apparent harmonic simplicity does not make the songs banal (take... let's say, "le acciughe fanno il pallone" or "knocking on heaven's door," harmonically very simple but ontologically stunning). Writing a classic with the "usual chords" is the prerogative of the greats; attempting and failing is for the modest (that's my view).

If we adopt an ultra-strict perspective for a ruthless analysis of a great artist, an analysis that, for heaven's sake, might even be warranted... sure, "back home" isn't among the best, I agree, but, I repeat, sometimes I see these albums (and these artists) criticized by people who adore Oasis... so...

And what do you think, aside from the "nerds," did we say the same things...? Meh...(for me, you read the first line of mine)

@gabbox...: I care a lot about other things. I've always loved Conte with absolute devotion. I owed this review to Him and to myself. If it feels like a duplicate to you, I'm sorry (but not that much...let’s say that, like Sassaroli, I suffer like a dog for almost 45 seconds). @others: okay, fine, more or less (and I confirm, extremely clever nerds, without any self-irony, which has been quite rare lately, but with a lot of instrumental libido).

dear dave, even though you don't like to hear it said "division" is, the whole album, more trivial than the entire floydian production, even solo. Here we still soar high.
Oasis (What's The Story) Morning Glory?

I permit myself, indeed, to question the Oasis and the nineties. Unfortunately, I don't know you personally, but I must say that all (many) enthusiasts of the '90s that I know have always shown a seriously inadequate understanding of everything that came before, and which the nineties heavily influenced. Now, if your argument is "hey, we’re twenty, don’t be a pain in the ass"...well...blessed are you, but let's not talk about musical culture. If, on the other hand, one wants to embark on a serious and comparative examination of the '60s, '70s, and even the early '80s and what came after, let's do it...(but it would be nice to do it with knowledge of the facts and not with adolescent generational clichés). Amen, go in peace.
Steven Spielberg Schindler's List

I didn't have time (sorry) to read all the posts, but I am adding myself to the list (if there is one) of those who find this film rhetorical, whiny, and cliché, regardless of the undeniable technical skills of the director. And I hope for this comment not to be accused of antisemitism (which would be somewhat concerning). I see that someone mentioned The Pianist. Well, that is a film. This is something else. We can discuss it, as long as we don’t insult each other. Salùt.
Jovanotti Lorenzo 2005: Buon Sangue

I’ll chime in: I agree about the cunning and the opportunism. Moreover, I have always found the same artistic proposal by Giovanotti to be truly subpar, both in literary terms (so to speak) and in musical/harmonic terms... a sort of Pezzali disguised as an intellectual. A bluff as big as a house, one of many from the '90s. However, I do advise caution when comparing him to Vasco, who may be a piece of shit today (you can see how I feel in my own "basta poco"), but from '78 to '83 he had his brilliant moments. Giovanotti leaves behind a handful of extremely banal songs, both when he confesses and when they are (falsely) misinterpreted by others... it’s a shame.
Pasquale Festa Campanile Un povero ricco
Voto:
Poletti is the classic pretentious intellectual (of the center-right...??? well...) unable to take things as they are and to immerse himself in the realities of the product for what they are: Pozzetto is a brilliant comedian, La Muti back then a stunning beauty, the film very light but not banal. And that Milan, above all, simply existed (not seeing it is the work of those who think that the reassuring reality constructed around a table is more real than the one right in front of their eyes...). Nice. The masterpieces of cinema are different, but I agree on a sincere and amused "nice."
The Police Live!
Voto:
a beautiful and useful record, but as a fan of the police, I must say that many bootlegs from the era, both from the early and the late period, were far superior. In other words, they didn’t really choose the artistically best concerts but, probably, the ones that were simply recorded better. Try to find the live recording from the underrated and brief "ghost in the machine" tour, featuring a brass section... then, let's not forget, for next Christmas we’ll have brand new audio/video material... thirty years later...
