Leonard Cohen Ten New Songs

I actually prefer the cavernous, smoky, and somewhat hoarse voice (almost "Contiana") much more than the one she had when she was younger, when she objectively produced great records (and, in any case, I really like this a lot).
Joe Cocker Hymn For My Soul

Compared to my old post, I downloaded the album and listened to it a lot: very enjoyable, like all of Joe's "recent" things, maybe it overdoes it a bit with effects and arrangements from the "synthesizer" (the horns on the opening track are unforgivable, either they’re fake, or absurdly they’re real and sound fake). For the rest, it's good, even quite well written (and obviously very well performed).

You see that you, too, are simply, after all, a victim of your own highly subjective tastes...? As the title of an unmissable album by the King (of course, Elvis) said: 50 million fans can’t be wrong (a phrase I obviously don’t agree with, but I’m sure it will make you mad). Kisses. Beatles, like Battisti or Armstrong, are adult loves, in my opinion. It’s easy to love only Coltrane when you’re twenty years old...

that doesn't change the fact that I continue to believe that LC's last two works are far superior to many from the '80s, and if there's an old guard artist for whom I would call for retirement, well... that's not LC (against whom, evidently, you have something personal, punisher, given the hysteria with which you express yourself, for me unprecedented and unfortunately a bit annoying... I must tell you... unless you are the wife or girlfriend of the punisher in disguise...). Kisses, anyway

@saputello: a theory not without plausibility (one that I personally largely share). @ajeje (evidently in a bad mood): I wasn't calling you a cretin (integral, not total...it's not the same thing), but those who say certain things, and not the way you say them. Anyway, the game is always the same: evaluating "wish" or "dark side" is something that shouldn't be done "ex post," but by trying to immerse oneself in the era, perhaps attempting objectivization, and not being shaped by everything that has come after, and which has borrowed heavily from both "wish" and "dark side," even when it doesn’t seem like it. This is a discussion that applies to "Stg. Pepper," to "Let It Bleed," in my opinion to "Darkness...," to the entire early work of Led Zeppelin, to "The Doors," etc.....(all mainstream, dear ajeje..., all overvalued, all -I know you’re not saying this, I believe and hope- less interesting than the indispensable Franz Ferdinand...? or, I’ve heard this too, less interesting than the great works of Oasis...???). Let's clarify things (and, I assure you, even if this won't change your mood, that I’m not upset with you at all, not even a little...)

@ajeje: the challenge AROUND HERE. Not the challenge in absolute terms. Around here, just saying "Rino Gaetano is the greatest Italian songwriter" and "like Barrett, no one ever" will earn you applause, incense, and bows. It's definitely much harder to support the value of so-called "well-known" or historical names. That's all I wanted to say (except that thinking of underestimating albums like "Wish" or "Dark Side" is, for me, simply the mark of complete idiots, but everyone is, of course, free to think as they please).

Punisher: this "dear heather" is not a peak, but it would be nice if some kid, any kid from MTV, wrote at least remotely like this... And "ten new songs," I repeat, was beautiful to me (but maybe my memory is slipping...)
Dario Argento Inferno
Voto:
A film with some hints of greatness, but overall (at the time) the worst of the production. Then, over the years, so many terrible films would come out that it would make this one seem like a masterpiece. From the stills and the plot revealed by L'Espresso a few weeks ago, the third one seems to be absolute nonsense, but with possible (and incredibly interesting) profiles of pure trash. I fear, I fear a lot (even though Il Cartaio is a negative peak that's hard to beat... and moreover not even graspable from the trash perspective...). I do have a cure for our Dario, though...

absolute pearl, highly commendable recommendation. One of my all-time favorite z-movies. In my opinion, alongside the rightful compliments for the invaluable recommendation, the film deserved a "themed" review that, in a light-hearted manner, emphasized even more the perfect coincidence between absolute ugliness and the sublime perfection of the work. Anyway, well done.
