Perhaps there is no need to review this masterpiece.
Perhaps there is no need to comment on these 44'08" of pure ecstasy.
Perhaps there is only the need to listen to it all in one breath to understand what is being talked about.
Indeed, when talking about the Pink Floyd, it's a bit like talking about the Beatles—you always risk falling into banality, saying the usual things, and even boring the readers... But when the stereo starts playing the 13'30" of pure psychedelic rock of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Part One)", when it moves to the epic "Welcome To The Machine", the monstrous "Have A Cigar", the poignant "Wish You Were Here", and ends with the apotheosis of the other 12'22" of "Shine On You Crazy Diamonds (Part Two)", it becomes clear that a few words on the matter are necessary...
And so it must be said that in three quarters of an hour are contained 5 tracks of rare perfection, of pure psychedelia... Needless to say, but after the mega success of "The Dark Side Of The Moon" (today also re-released in SuperAudioCD format) Waters and company in 1975 crafted another true milestone in the history of rock...
NOTE: It was recorded at ABBEY ROAD in July '75... doesn't this name remind you of anything?
Pink Floyd, what are they? They are a ray of sunshine in a messy room.
Only when you hear the four notes of 'Shine On' do you understand... that you have arrived... and have only just begun.
Pink Floyd has never let us down.
Tell me, isn’t this the real music?
"Wish You Were Here can be defined as a concept album about absence: of the word, but also of the individual and thought."
"Pink Floyd were, are, and always will be the group that achieved pure perfection, both musically and ‘textually’."
It was as if he had never left the group; indeed, he hovered like a ghost, bringing sad memories that then influenced, more or less, the songs and themes of Pink Floyd.
A masterpiece, giving chills even today, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs of all time.
The emotions given by Gilmour’s guitar are impressive and indescribable. To be listened to at dawn.
The album concludes with the second part of Shine On You Crazy Diamond, which in my opinion remains the most important reason to purchase this CD.
