I’m back.. after months and months.. without reviewing an album from the "old" LION of Sheffield.
(I know, I could have minded my own business)... but now I’m here!

It had been months since I knew it would be released.. so last winter on the official site, a date, actually the date. 03/30/2007 it will be released in Europe (and still today 04/03/2007 not released in the rest of the world) "HYMN FOR MY SOUL". The latest album by Joe Cocker.

For a few years now, he's passed 60 years, but I must say he still leaves a mark.. sure, we can’t seek the "king" lion of the golden years, but we can find a man.. wise, tested.. and still eager to sing.

Hymn For My Soul:
1. You Haven't Done Nothing
2. Peace
3. Love Is For Me
4. Don't Give Up On Me
5. Long As I Can See The Light
6. Beware Of Darkness
7. Pass It On
8. Rivers Invitation
9. Ring Them Bells
10. Hymn For My Soul

Ten wonderful ballads.. by various legendary artists, in short, Joe doesn't amaze us with the novelty of the album, but indeed for the increasingly intense interpretation over the years.. His voice, higher than it used to be, thanks to his reluctance to drink and smoke, allows him to sing better, but indeed.. the quantity is unfortunately not what it was more than 30 years ago!!

This latest album remains very soul, with gospel choirs.. and some small reggae reminiscences... indeed, it stands out for its peculiarity even though by now all fans know that he loves reggae.. again this time, he wanted to include a similar track "Just pass it on".

What else can I say, I have no words, a legend is still present on earth, a man who more than 30 years ago topped the music charts still today holds his own in the music world.

One last thing I want to point out, the most particular tracks are:
JUST PASS IT ON
PEACE
LONG AS I CAN SEE THE LIGHT
These in my opinion, represent the meaning of the album.
