Francesco Guccini Ritratti
Voto:
absolutely inferior album compared to the rest of the production (it can only compete with Parnassius...). Obviously, I speak in a relative sense, meaning Guccio, even when he puts in little effort (like here...) is greater than the best nek... but do we really need to say it...? In the recent (to say the least) past, definitely better than Quello che non e Signora Bovary. Further down, having to choose one among the minor works, I see D?'Amore Morte and... After that, honestly, I would recommend reading his books.
Lucio Battisti Hegel
Voto:
Nice review, very well crafted, but I don't agree with it. For me, the duo Battisti-Panella certainly pushed further with CSAR (from all points of view, but especially from the musical and interpretative standpoint in a broad sense). Hegel is a beautiful, very interesting album, but somewhat uninspired (from Panella's interviews, the purely "contractual" nature of this work is quite clear, certainly less heartfelt and less of a "concept" than all the previous ones). Nevertheless, it’s at least an interesting milestone and, as always, superbly packaged, from the greatest duo in Italian music of the recent past (alongside De Andrè-Fossati with Anime Salve, of course). Personally, but this is an absolutely subjective opinion, nothing compares to Apparenza...
Mauro Pagani 2004 Creuza De Ma
Voto:
small observation: first (and not after) morgan (the lowercase is intentional, since - in my opinion - one is great and the other a perfect fool whom I do not care about)... Then, wanting to talk about this album, I must say that it is a splendidly conceived and executed work, with - obviously... - the handicap of the voice (but on the other hand...: who can compete...?). The cd, however, is very pleasant to listen to and is not touched by the ominous shadow of uselessness. Pagani is a hell of a musician, with a great soul and perfect skill. Here you can hear all of that, in addition to his undeniable qualities as an arranger.
Francesco Guccini Due anni dopo
Voto:
I'm sharing my initial comments: not Guccini's best, but enough with "Vedi Cava"... Although the "live" version is more thrilling for me (but the attachment to that album - obviously "between Via Emilia and the West" - is adolescent and intense...). For me (for what it's worth), the best studio work from Guccio is and remains "Signora Bovary." Obviously flatulating...
Genesis We Can't Dance
Voto:
Subjectively speaking (though we won’t reiterate this, since it’s obvious): Calling for me is a brave work aiming at an impossible goal, namely the double succession, first from Gabriel and then from Collins (some aspects of that album, like the atmosphere, are closer to the first than to the second). I find that the endeavor succeeded only halfway, but we must take into account that it was practically impossible. Musically, though, for me - obviously - it’s very beautiful, except for the unbearable single Congo. However (and here we should spend a few words…) let’s remember that this is not the last work of Genesis, as there is also the (for me) beautiful The Carpet Crawlers 1999, featuring everyone (including Gabriel), which makes us wonder what kind of atmospheres we could aspire to if our beloved band were to collaborate again…
Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill Acoustic
Voto:
True: the presence of the unplugged from a few years ago significantly increases the risk of "uselessness"... especially since in the last tour the tracks from Jagged... had been completely rearranged in "electric," achieving much more exciting results, and that would have probably made the album more interesting, without having to pay tribute to the false myth of "acoustic." Anyway, I reiterate what I've written: a beautiful album that risks the reputation (still interesting) of being objectively useless.
Keith Jarrett The Köln Concert
Voto:
Well done, jake20. Absolutely agree. Kohln is not just famous. It’s extraordinarily beautiful (even if not all movements are equally beautiful and here and there, in other concerts, the same heights are reached... well...). Anyway, it’s an extremely snobbish stance to not consider this album for what it’s worth, or to belittle its value. It is certainly one of the albums that have made - and continue to make - the history of Music. It would be interesting if someone reviewed the latest Radiance...

Steve Vai Reel Illusion: Reflection
Voto:
But at least in this album does he manage to play less than five thousand notes per quarter...? He may be great, but when they were handing out soul, he was in the bathroom practicing scales (not pentatonic ones... too simple). I belong to the family of Keith Richards and BB King. Pardòn.

for Moretto: location not far away, but what you think (a bit more in detail) about Calling in the end you haven't said. If it fails...where and why...?
