Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse Of Reason
Voto:
Are you absolutely sure that Division Bell is more "imaginative"...? It's exactly the album where they clone themselves the most, constantly imitating each other (which is fine...: absolutely). One example is the beginning of What do you want from me... identical to have a cigar... The fact that it is evident to me, but equally evident that it is not for others, is that AMLOR is fundamentally an original album, although "in style." Obviously, everything is very subjective (thank goodness...)

half-agree: here we can already see all the Prince that will come, but the best, for me, will be what comes after: between 1999 and Lovesexy. Before and after is great, but still inferior.
Oasis Definitely Maybe

The reference to the latest single was exemplary, not related to the review above. Anyway, I’m glad that someone shares my view that these guys have never had a single original idea. Then, it’s extremely dangerous to assume that something new deserves appreciation simply due to a supposed "fatigue" with what has been heard and published before. The paradoxical result of this way of thinking is to take Jim Morrison’s records, which are at least 35 years old, and flush them down the toilet, perhaps to listen to the White Stripes, who are so fresh, young, and (supposedly) good. The true courage is to admit that everything has a beginning, a development, and an end, even if the Market does not agree (but that discussion would be too long… maybe another time… So it is with rock, in all its forms.
Oasis Definitely Maybe

For goodness' sake... Oasis is the most overrated phenomenon -imposed by the market...- of recent years. They are pathetic from every point of view: compositional, interpretative, harmonic, etc.... They aspire to a series of Masters they aren't even worthy of washing the car for. Sadness, please go away... Guys, before talking about these idiots, go listen to the records of the Beatles and Paul Weller (and all his bands). And maybe even the Stones, so you would realize that they cloned the last single, good luck to all those who don't know it. Pathetic. Guys: wake up! They’re pulling a fast one on you.
Lucio Battisti Anima Latina
Voto:
a mysterious album, a unique act in the splendid career of Lucio. Outside the box, free from obsequiousness, fundamentally inspired only by himself and the thousands of ideas he was churning out in every song at that time. Moments of genius one after another. A note of credit also goes to Mogol, here concise, at times hermetic, absolutely minimalist. "in his" more than ever, neither before nor after...
Aerosmith O-Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits
Voto:
Aerosmith is a big band that plays classic epic American rock and loud music. Nothing could be further from the Stones (of which they are only a copy in that they have skinny singers with wrinkles and wide mouths...). More than anything, they are the much better version of Bon Jovi. Well-crafted stuff, but it doesn't thrill me and it passes quickly... It's the pop mechanism applied to rock.
Britney Spears In The Zone
Voto:
It must be the age (I’ve crossed thirty for a while now…) but it really is ugly… come on… I would never deny myself that classic little hit, asking for plenty of encores. Of course, the music is what it is… but we really can’t save Toxic… in the field of pop nonsense, it shone…
Sergio Caputo Swing&Soda
Voto:
Caputo is an underrated and unjustly forgotten figure in Italian music... yes... the one that is currently trying to promote that idiot Britti as a songwriter... yes... that kind of music... the one that had Battisti and now has Pausini, who sells all over the world... Anyway, as a fan, I prefer and recommend the incredible Live (one of the best in Italian Music when it existed) "ne approfitto per fare un po' di musica." The same songs, more or less, but with a tight band and an unforgettable concert atmosphere. The unknown and later albums are beautiful as well, especially "I love jazz." He wasn't/isn't a genius, but one of those honest craftsmen who still exist elsewhere, but not here. Simple, and sad.
Lucio Battisti La batteria, il contrabbasso, eccetera
Voto:
Mogol is never trivial with Battisti (or almost, let's say...). Here certainly not. You will kill me, but Mogol is great even during the Cocciante period. It’s the subsequent era that worries, like that of all the super hits with Celentano and Gianni Bella. That's where he puts in little effort (with maximum results... being our country full of sheep...)
Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

Alright. Nothing can compare to Pompeii and the Pink until Dark Side and Wish (even though I have a perverse passion for Animals... but that's just me, probably). I still stand by my thoughts on the reviewed album, which, as George Michael would say from the height of his pop, should be "listened to without prejudice" (a quote to make you jump in your seat... eh...?).
