Ah... tuning... I disagree, said with respect... it's one of those discussions that claim objectivity, like Bocelli's beautiful voice, Battisti's ugly one (a little controversy from a few years ago)... guys...: everything is subjective, especially in art. Gabriel has a beautiful voice, and, in my opinion, a perfect intonation (at least I've never heard him sing out of tune...), just like Hay. If you mention Reed or Cave, well... sure... they're not always at 440, but that's not where the game is played... (primiballi.blogspot.com). Out of curiosity, regardless, who do you think is in tune (so we can have a deeper discussion)?

look: nothing better than the official site, which you can find right away on Google. CH has made a lot of records, some beautiful ones. in Italy, they are inexplicably hard to find. practically never and nowhere... then they say that one downloads illegally........ (primiballi.blogspot.com)
Luca Carboni Intanto Dustin Hoffman Non Sbaglia Un Film

I knew I was raising a mini-controversy: there would be much to discuss. On many fronts: the (just and rightful) prejudice regarding what LC did later; how and how much this record was perceived; whether the team behind it is of a certain caliber or not; how much faith one has in Dalla and Stadio from those years (I repeat: from those years); the intrinsic quality of the lyrics and harmonies. In short...: if one wants to be serious, one talks about a record knowing it well. Not just saying... "carboni... well... everyone knows he's an idiot...", or "at 15 you like everything," simply because these are pseudo-historical realities founded mostly on clichés. With the proper understanding, one can say (always my opinion, for heaven's sake...) that the egg out of the basket can happen to anyone. Even to Luca Carboni (and for those who haven’t listened to him or perhaps didn’t pay much attention, or only heard him as a teenager, just one piece of advice: listen again without prejudice). I've already said a lot about Vasco's genius elsewhere: claiming that between '77 and '83 Vasco wasn't an innovative and brilliant songwriter is simply wrong, and there are precise but lengthy reasons for this, and I don't want to turn this into a post/poem... if you want, we can (re)discuss it (primiballi.blogspot.com).

Dear Mariaelena, this is truly one of the (rare, for me) recommendations. A record that I don't know and that your review made me eager to get and listen to. (primiballi.blogspot.com). Well done and thank you.
Paolo Fresu / Uri Caine Things

beautiful review and great album, definitely exceeding my expectations (I love fresu but normally not Caine). frantz: if you're referring to Bollani's latest "solo piano" I agree: I also expected more (even though there are moments of pure beauty) and SB definitely comes across better "live" being one of those (not few) who live jazz joyfully and not as a constant inner suffering. Aside from the fake review, which as always is beyond comment, am I risking lynching if I say that this album deserves a deeper look and that it definitely meets the minimum standard (something that hasn't happened in years...)? (primiballi.blogspot.com)

flour: the longest career has been, damn! Colin Hay has made a ton of records. All of them good, at least as high quality as those of MAW (some definitely more and "thicker"). then, not exactly in tune is a judgment, at least, approximate. we just need to agree on the tuning...let's discuss...(primiballi.blogspot.com)

Thank you again. Regarding Punisher: you see, for example, looking at the world from Australia, they wouldn’t see it like you do: MAW and especially Colin Hay afterwards are national monuments (you could say Kylie Minogue is one too… that’s true…). I reiterate the historical superiority of Police and Sting, but the phenomenon in question is far from negligible. Colin Hay has made many beautiful albums, he has a stunning voice and is a songwriter of absolute quality. Trust me and trust them. This debut work by MAW (their total works are 4, including Brazil, a live album from the '90s, excluding the compilations) is one of the top 10 albums of the '80s that I would take to the ideal desert island. I have always considered the first two MAW albums as a double ideal, in terms of composition, interpretation, and general inspiration, of course... like with all sequels, it lacks the "novelty factor." As you’ve seen (and thank you for that), I then followed Colin Hay in his (great and snubbed) solo career. Both the band and the leader have always had an unjust aura of underestimation. Elsewhere, however, they are appreciated quite a lot (someone must have seen "that" episode of Scrubs... no...??? hmm...). Anyway, good and brave, and nice review. (primiballi.blogspot.com)
Battisti / Panella Il Cofanetto

Thank you, but I reiterate that the publication of the "austere work" par excellence, with singles and covers as He wanted them, was the only thing feasible with seriousness: proposing them at a good price, yes, would have been a nice gesture from a divulgative purpose. Such a box set is nonsense (even though what’s inside is divine, obviously...), an unworthy commercial endeavor for the Family (so far the only decent family among those of the Great Departed) (primiballi.blogspot.com)
