But why is it such an unlikely thing to appreciate both Sylvian and Madonna!? One just needs to give each of them their due weight... I don’t see why I should "deprive" myself of one or the other just because they belong to two different scenes.

If Music had been an EP with just the 6 tracks produced by Mirwais, it would have been a very successful and fresh work (he may not be a genius, but his album Production is a beautiful example of French electro that I recommend)... but unfortunately the rest is quite weak, Orbit was already faded (and you can tell), Runaway Lover is a terrible song, perhaps the ugliest track by Madonna, and the song with Guy Sigsworth (capable of masterpieces like Unravel by Bjork) is certainly not better. The other tracks are nice, but it could have been done better...

Among Madonna's albums, perhaps this is the one I like the least; it suffers a bit too much from overproduction (if I remember correctly, it had five producers), which prevents it from taking a well-defined path, and in several instances, the sound comes across as too polished, flabby, and indeed overly sweet. In my opinion, the best work is the one done with Nellee Hooper (who would connect her with Bjork and Massive Attack, for which he was indeed the producer). However, I wouldn’t dismiss "I’d Rather Be Your Lover," a nice funk track featuring (and rapping) the bassist Me'shell Ndege Ocello, who had just been signed by Madonna's record label.

Well, everyone is free to have their own opinions about Bowie... not everyone can like him, right!? But The Secret Life Of Arabia is on Heroes, not on Low! ;)

Very good...and I agree with you on almost everything.

Yes, yes, in the video of Hallo Spaceboy it's really them... around the same time they performed with Bowie in that very piece during the Brit Awards. I apologize to the PSB fans, but I've always found their version rather ugly!
Kate Bush Never For Ever

In fact, I would say that just as Kate was making her debut with "silly little songs," there were tons of them; we were in the full disco era (and with this, I don't mean to criticize that musical trend, okay?). The real big issue for Kate Bush (especially here in Italy) is not that she's not played much by the media (which has always focused on more frivolous music) but that she is rather snubbed by the very audience her music is aimed at. One only has to notice the few comments on this review (and on the others dedicated to her) to understand it.

I know practically all of their singles but I've never bought one of their albums (although Behaviour has been on my list for a while)... indeed, over the years they have been quite consistent in maintaining their sound without trying to adapt to newer, more "profitable" and trendy sounds. Or more simply, they are a humble group that recognizes their limits and knows they can only do that kind of music well... after all, I'm glad that they still have a decent visibility and success; they always gave me the impression of being an overly underrated group, Can You Forgive Her? was a great track.
Sting ...Nothing Like The Sun

I know few albums by Sting (I should catch up...) including this one which I have always found very beautiful, even though it perhaps loses a bit towards the end; it seems to me that he uses up his best shots in the first part. We Dance Alone is a spectacular track and Fragile is a piece as simple as it is intense.
