I love the area, just like I love a lot of other stuff. I definitely didn't want to list all the prog bands I know, but only to make Old King understand that not all of us in front of the screen are 14 years old... and I certainly don't feel like ruining my ears; on the contrary: Dream Theater make excellent music. It seems to me that they are the perfect blend of classic progressive and metal (I appreciate both genres as I've already pointed out). You're free not to like them, but it's far from fair to judge them negatively based on your tastes. Calling people puppets who have been playing seriously for 20 years and have made a name for themselves through their music seems disrespectful to me. And it really gets on my nerves.

...I like the Tool albums Aenima and Lateralus...but they don't drive me crazy...I mean, they don't evoke many emotions in me...probably due to the repetitiveness of their sound...but I still have to listen to this one...the review HAS to have a low score...how can you say it's the greatest, most introspective, and fascinating band out there??

Dream Theater Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes From A Memory

...damn...do you think you can comment on all of them and keep repeating the same things??? There are groups that have created, groups that have innovated, and groups that have carried a genre forward with style. Dream Theater belong to the third category: What's the problem?

Aaaaah...Old King, thank goodness you arrived to explain the whole story of progressive rock to us stupid kids who only listen to Dream Theater...not that we know Pfm, Banco, King Crimson, Rush, Genesis...and so on...Come on, play the part of the clueless newcomer who thinks he knows more than everyone else...
Slipknot 9.0 - Live

...oh, in the various live performances I've heard/seen (both live and not), I thought that singers mostly thought about singing... I mean, I don't want to talk about clean voices, just listen to a live performance by Death or Impaled Nazarene, CHRIST! It gets crazy, but they know how to sing (relatively speaking, we're talking about scream) at least!

CLH2O if you read the comments, you’ll see that your idea of Dream Theater doesn’t match everyone else's... it seems to me that they are truly BEAUTIFUL songs... with BEAUTIFUL lyrics... it's been years since I've heard the same things about Dream Theater: too much technique, they don’t communicate anything, live they're like mannequins... 90% of the people who say these things have heard little to nothing... this is NOT immediate music, you can’t fully appreciate it on the first listen, and I’m speaking simply from experience... bah, if someone listens poorly and with prejudice, without trying to understand (I’m speaking generally, not just about prog) what a band wants to express, they are simply missing out... if I want to listen to people who show they can play their instruments, I’ll dive into jazz and fusion...
Rush Moving Pictures

Surely Rush are the grandparents of prog metal... they are the ones who truly opened the doors for various bands... 30 years earlier. One of the greatest bands that history will ever have. I give you a 4 because I don't agree with your rating. For me, this album is a milestone.
Queensrÿche Operation Mindcrime

Well, when we talk about precursors of prog metal, it's normal for more recent bands to sound much more progressive, but Queensryche already had characteristics that their successors assimilated as early as Rage For Order...
