THE REVIEW

Introduction: nowadays the Tool are the greatest, most introverted and fascinating band around, and of course, this album was eagerly anticipated by everyone; the CD had already been circulating online for some time, but the charm of the original CD is irresistible… ready, set, go: the artwork is something amazing, nothing like it has ever been done before, meticulously crafted to the smallest details by guitarist Adam Jones and with drawings by Alex Gray, who has been accompanying the band for some time now, this consists of a series of holographic images that can be seen in 3D… AMAZING!

But let's get to the album, 11 songs lasting almost 80 minutes, 80 incredible minutes, in which you are transported to another dimension, the work done in my opinion is fabulous, a meticulous exploration of sounds and rhythmic passages that leave you breathless (it is indeed known that Danny Carey continuously develops his drumming). The first two tracks “Vicarius” and “Jambi” clearly have influences from bands that have toured with Tool in the past, especially Meshuggah, with odd times and countertempos taking the lead, and then Maynard with his whispers and little voices that invade you throughout the song; then immediately after the duo “Wings For Marie” and “10000 Days” where there are strong Floydian echoes from the “Meddle” and ”Wish You Were Here” period.
The Pot” perhaps the most beautiful track on the album where the voice is in constant vortex, a high-low accompanied by the persistent and ceaseless rhythm section pushing towards the last songs introduced by a quasi-Indian piece “Lipan Conjuring” leading to “Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)”, an instrumental and sick piece where there is a “dialogue” between a doctor and a patient in shock.

The last 30 minutes of “Rosetta Stoned” with its 11 minutes could be taken from “Ænima”, “Intension” where tribal sounds, whispers are inserted, all held together by the bass line, “Right In Two” a magnificent piece of almost 9 minutes where the voice cradles the listener and finally “Viginti Tres” a worthy conclusion of an album that I had been waiting for 5 years and was fully rewarded by another MASTERPIECE!!!

This will be an album that will certainly provoke extensive discussion but we need bands like them!

The eleven tracks of 10,000 Days... represent the most vital and dynamic rock music one can find today.

The only criticism one might level at Tool is perhaps an excessive awareness of their own abilities.

By Stoopid

The rhythm proceeds regular and aseptic, regular even in irregularity. An artificial heart, not a spasm, not a jolt, not a leap into the void.

The album flows without any meaning, leaving only the froth at the mouth of those who were waiting for something juicy.

If it had been the same as the previous albums, I would have given a bad review.

An album to savor and listen to billions and billions of times from start to finish.

It is certainly one of the best albums of the last 5 years.

Pink Floyd are one thing, Tool are another.
