Eh, I don't have that. The '88 one, you say? Maybe I was distracted. I still listen to the first three vinyls every now and then. And just like for the young Omahaceleb, "Before Hollywood" is the album for me. Now, with a bit of a delay, I will also get to taste this, thanks to AJM. It's only right for an old-timer, it seems...

Hi Aristarco. Long time no see.... But why are you reading this stuff?

I don't remember it as "particularly personal." In the sense that a couple of years later, it seems to me, aside from albums released not under his name that are equally valid, the one he did with Vernon Reid, "Smash & Scatteration," presents a decidedly more interesting side. Jumping forward a few more years, I suggest listening to an album under his name from '90, "Is that You?", which I particularly liked, released I believe the same year as the excellent "Before We Were Born." And of course, we must also take into account, in a very rich discography, some of Zorn's best productions, like those mentioned by Macaco (hello) - Anyway, having read the page, I'll dig out the album for a listen after ages, maybe to change my mind.

@ZZOT: Actually, as I mentioned in a previous post, I don't find it true that Fink is snubbed by critics. And yes, even if certain definitions make me smile, there obviously exists a "mainstream indie." But that's a problem for journalists and record labels: some of those frantic classifications are so ridiculous. Fink has shown that he really doesn’t care: this is actually his third album, following the shift from the more "NinjaTuneorthodox" first period, which took place in 2006 with "Biscuits For Breakfast" (on which I wrote a DePaginetta years ago and which I recommend listening to), continued with "Sort Of Revolution." As I said, I listened to this one as soon as it came out, perhaps a little distractedly: I’ll return to it soon, especially thanks to your so positive review. Best regards.

And, unfortunately, yes, I've read your little pages, with the tedium that comes with it, and I imagine you consider them to be marked by a certain refinement in choices, which you presume come from knowledge unknown to most, as you painfully demonstrate in your latest post. But that’s not the case. I started listening to music before you came into the world (an event that I suppose you consider memorable; forgive the world if it doesn’t share your view or, at most, you’ll reproach it for its lack of acumen) and there is truly nothing, among the things you write or talk about, that I haven't listened to, unless by choice. But who cares. I would never dream of presuming to judge my interlocutors or their tastes based on my "knowledge". Instead, it seems you believe you can do just that. Good for you. But are you really convinced you can enlighten us, little one? And then, darling, I accidentally read some of your posts, where in truly hilarious ways (unbeknownst to you, of course) you dished out judgments and critiques on others’ little pages, with the tones of a school teacher worthy of the idea of education that a Gelmini of any kind might have. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but you are a faded copy of others who came before you in these lands, and you found the space, which the site’s managers kindly grant to anyone, to overflow. But you are boring, vulgar, and poor in dialectics. Now, however, I have to go; I’ve spent too much time on you. But please: don’t give up, we need elements like you, keep delighting us. Bye, dear.

@l piccolo matteodi.leonar: So far I haven't wanted to be harsh, but you insist. Now you’re throwing insults. And you’re increasing the level of vulgarity. Well, my dear, I have to tell you, because I see that you just can't seem to understand: yes, it is I who grants you the luxury of engaging with me. Because if I don’t address you and you drag me into this, you behave in an unbecoming manner. And I can't stand rude children. Then, since you haven’t gotten anything right, let me explain again: I haven’t made any judgments about you; I’ve simply pointed out your public behaviors and reactions, as well as your paranoid hypotheses of nonexistent coalitions. So I am left, much to my regret, to proceed, given the further deterioration of your manners: go fuck yourself.

It's true that it didn't receive the attention it deserved. Except in our little musical den: it was one of the best-selling albums that year in the ethno/world category (which took up a third of the store) and one of the most surprising. I didn't think Supersoul wandered into these territories either. Thanks for reminding me, it's been a while since I've played it. CiaU

Mr. matteodi.leonar, I have already had the chance on another occasion to verify your difficulty in understanding simple and perfectly comprehensible sentences, which has been accompanied by a certain dose of irritability and arrogance. All of this within a few posts (2 or 3, I don't remember exactly). On this occasion, however, you also allow yourself the luxury, which I do not grant you, of using my nickname for your rambling paranoid theories. As far as I'm concerned, your opinion on musical matters is as interesting as that of other young men, and DeBaser has seen many who are far more assertive and paranoid, so you can say whatever you want; you know I don't care. But if you directly involve me, without my having interacted with you in any way (I only reminded OMAHACELEB of a musician's passing), you are taking a liberty that you do not have. And for now, I must scold you. If you insist, however, I will have to tell you to go fuck yourself. And since I generally tend to maintain a certain aplomb, I would prefer to avoid that. Thank you, dear. - P.S. What you said about Lindsay and Quine is nonsense that would make even Arto smile, who is by far less arrogant and vulgar than you. And he had great respect for Robert Quine.

Ah, I see only now, among the replies to a comment, that your initiation is the work of your mother. Be kind, offer her the respects of an old satyr.

But do I have to ask the teacher for permission to go pee? I pass by DeB with decreasing frequency, and perhaps because of that, I hadn't noticed the new pedagogical drift. Matteo, instead of showering you with gentle judgments seasoned with paternal encouragement, I'm asking you: how did you end up listening to this music? It seems to me the far more interesting question. - P.S. Despite decades of almost omnivorous listening, I didn't know this record, so thank you!
