Petit Fours is a very enjoyable exercise in electrified (synth) pop, characterized by decidedly inspired melodies, prominent guitars, and a Pixies-like bass.

The goal, the creation of a pleasant, fun, and enduring record, has been fully achieved.

The reviewer was pleasantly surprised by Grand Duchy's 'Petit Fours,' a synth pop album created by Frank Black and his wife Violet Clark. The album features bright melodies, diverse tracks, and echoes of Pixies influences, making it a fun and enduring record. Though not a masterpiece, it stands out as a favorite release of 2009 and is recommended for fans of thoughtful pop rock. Listen to Grand Duchy’s Petit Fours and discover a fresh blend of synth pop and indie rock magic!

An album that represents a pleasant surprise for those who, like myself, believed they were artistically finished.

Underneath the Stars so close to the atmospheres of Disintegration, particularly the wonderful Plainsong.

The Cure's 4:13 Dream is a pleasant and compact album that avoids the pitfalls of previous works. It features a blend of atmospheric tracks reminiscent of Disintegration and lively pop songs. Standout tracks include Underneath the Stars, The Only One, and The Hungry Ghost. The album is a strong artistic statement, proving the band’s continuing relevance. Robert Smith announced a second part to be released in 2009. Discover The Cure’s 4:13 Dream and experience their captivating blend of pop and dark rock—listen now and dive into the band’s evolving sound!
