Foil is cute, I won’t deny it. This is the second and last of the melodic phase of Autechre: just listen to a track like Silverside to understand the distance between this and Untilted. A step above Incunabula: it’s true that they had definitely done better, though. Despite the underground intent to make impersonal music in Incunabula, the picture is decidedly "personal," "sentimental," dark.

Spacca is right, kitty! ;P Cleo, to talk to the professor you need to contact him, preferably not on holidays, office hours by appointment only.

Great exegesis, pretà, I agree with your interpretation. We'll have to listen to it.

But Joe, what are you doing, are you listening to him? This guy up here is a club wannabe with a fixation on remixes, as if he understands the art of the little beats of the heart. Damn, a 3.5 on one of the greatest albums in the history of the '80s. But then you see such sterile critiques. Sure, dream pop was tailored for them, but what can we do if they were the initiators? If we follow your reasoning, then only Eno made ambient, only Knuckles did house, only Nirvana did grunge. Come on. And what are you saying? You’re minimizing. Dream pop had several followers: at least akin to the CTs were Dead Can Dance in the '80s, plus Galaxie 500, Bel Canto, Hugo Largo, and the promanation of This Mortal Coil. And now? The late Mercury Rev and Sigur, indeed, but also Slowblow, the Sparklehorse whose latest just came out, the Devics. All dream pop or very similar. Come on. A 5 for the history of the '80s.

A great read from Kosmo, I highlight Basquiat (but did anyone pay attention to that little film about the American from about ten years ago?) in this regard. You can feel Eno, and thank goodness for that.
