You're not wrong, NickGhostDrake: Phil Evrum was the drummer for Old Time Relijun until 2001, when he left the band to focus entirely on the Microphones project.

(dedicated to my friend Marmist regarding the relationship between the Beatles and the Stones)
"Requested by the Stones' manager Andrew Loog Oldham to provide them with a song,
Lennon and McCartney showed up [in the autumn of 1963] at the Studio 51 club with a half-formed idea from McCartney. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, with whom Lennon and McCartney were already on friendly terms, agreed that what they had was compatible with their style.
Settling comfortably in a corner of the room where the Rolling Stones were rehearsing,
the two Beatles quickly completed the song (it was perhaps at this point that Lennon offered
the phrase 'I wanna be your man' which is repeated 4 times in the chorus).
Although the result was far from being considered a masterpiece,
Jagger and Richards were so impressed by the fact that a song could be put together in a few minutes, that from that moment on they decided to write their own material, soon becoming the only serious rivals to the Beatles among the pop music composers of that era." I read an interview in which Michael Stipe stated that if Up had been made by three unknowns instead of R.E.M., the audience would have reacted in a much more engaged and positive way. In a sense, that's true, because this album has many interesting and unusual elements in the career of R.E.M. (I think of tracks like "Suspicion," "At My Most Beautiful," and "Airport Man"). I don't think it's a masterpiece, especially since there are tracks that I find quite boring ("Falls to Climb," "Parakeet," "You're in the Air"), but among the recent R.E.M. albums, it seems to me that it's the one where they've tried to do something different. Around the Sun and Reveal already feel like clichés to me.
