THE REVIEW

Damon Albarn is a genius! Damon Albarn is a genius? Damon... clever he is, we can't even argue about that.

The right project, the cool cartoon look, that somewhat aloof air. I'm the classic sucker fascinated by side-projects: I love listening to celebrated musicians outside of their usual contexts, finally free to express their creativity without the constraints of the market, without the pressure of not devaluing the brand, without angry fans ready to take to the streets if their hero doesn’t live up to his fame.

And so good Damon uses the Gorillaz dimension to experiment with everything forbidden to Blur. Trip-hop, dub, rap: electronics galore, club music, and dance-floor tunes.
Mr. Albarn had a lot of fun with the Gorillaz project. And I, considering the craftiness of the operation, had as much fun: the sense of play, melody, a joyful freedom permeate this work. Easy listening, cheerful. However, one doubt remains: what is the depth of Demons Days? That is to say, in 12 months, will it have aged like any Korean car? I can’t rule it out...

 Damon Albarn is a genius!

This second work of the virtual band is one of the best albums of the year, more convincing than the first.
