Masterpiece of an album! The review is well written...even though I almost completely DISAGREE! Sorry...how can you say that the SMITHS weren't fundamental in the history of music???? I mean...everything in Pop/Rock that I've heard from the '90s until today...is ALL influenced by the SMITHS! RADIOHEAD, COLDPLAY, BLUR, OASIS, etc...have all been influenced by them, up to KAISER CHIEFS, KASABIAN, etc..! From the '90s until now (and who knows for how much longer..) the SMITHS have influenced all of Pop/Rock..! I conclude by mentioning the extraordinary style of MARR (amazing..) and the sublime and divine voice of MORRISSEY...truly one of a kind!!!

In my opinion, it’s a fantastic album..!!! Much better than the 2-3 previous productions from the late '90s..early 2000s..! STAY VISIBLE, UNDERNEATH THE ICE, HOME, etc..are great songs in my opinion! :-)))

This album is something sensational… truly! TOTO are among the most technically skilled bands in the history of rock… and they know how to combine virtuosity with PASSION!!!!! This album is truly phenomenal!!! The title track is something impressive!! Ian Anderson's contribution in HOOKED is crazy!! NO END IN SIGHT is a tightly wound Hard-Rock track!!! Then there’s so much atmosphere with SPIRITUAL MAN… BOTTOM OF YOUR SOUL..! Man… if this album weren’t branded TOTO… it would be hugely loved and sold out!! It's a shame they have such a bad reputation lately!!! So far, as far as I'm concerned, it's the best album of 2006..!

Hehehehe...tell him to listen to the 23 minutes of SUPPER'S READY by my idols GENESIS (just to say one..)! But in the end...it's like this: we need to be more OBJECTIVE..OBJECTIVE!!! And take the slices of ham out of our eyes (or ears..)! Even our idols can do...and have done (a whole lot of..) stupid things..! Admitting it is a sign of maturity!! It's normal to also do some stupid things..! ;-)

ALFA..if you've read all my posts (not just in this discussion..but especially in those of other albums..for example SHEER, A NIGHT, THE MIRACLE, etc..) you'll notice that a lot of fans have come down hard on me..precisely because from my words I didn't seem like a fan of QUEEN..and instead I was simply speaking critically, objectively, and impartially!! I am very attached to QUEEN..but I think that when there is a need to criticize, we must do it..! It's a shame that many people don’t do it!! So..I completely agree with your point..but it’s a discussion I have made at least 100 times (right around here..)! So I’m glad you brought it up..!

It's pointless: it’s “cool” to trash famous bands and idolize lesser-known ones..! Maybe to say “I listen to music that the ignorant masses wouldn’t be able to appreciate…”! Anyway.. certainly, they are a very cultured person.. but for a long time now, I’ve decided to do this: when I read a review of some band or artist.. if that review insults or criticizes the artist in question.. then I buy and listen to the album..! If, on the other hand, the album is praised and well-rated.. then I don’t buy it..! I know.. it’s strange.. but I’ve been doing this for a while now..! Also because.. the critic’s job is, in my opinion, quite useless..! I mean.. you have to give YOUR opinions (which are therefore highly SUBJECTIVE..) on a product that can have thousands and thousands of perspectives and different tastes..! Well.. greetings!!

For me it's.. and always will be a load of crap SCARUFFI..! Just like a good part of the critics.. who talk without any understanding of the topic..! Sure.. sometimes I can even agree with him (rarely..) but sometimes he says huge nonsense.. like this about the JETHRO.. or some things I've read against the GENESIS (bah..)! No comment..!!
