But Petrucci is academic, harmonic, meticulous, and therefore... predictable. Those two are something else, and they stand out quite a bit from the rest. You can find a thousand guitarists in Petrucci's style, but these two (one is Moore, the other I can't remember) are much more original and differentiated from the rest. The best of the genre remains the work of Sean Malone (and he really does have a position at the conservatory) and all his friends, but these guys are also amazing; if you like the genre, they are a must.

Because it’s new: it doesn’t know the songs, it lacks stage presence, and so it plays better when it’s not being watched. Always better than reading the next day in magazines "poor performance" or "you can tell it’s new." We're talking about a band with eternally adolescent fans who keep switching, and the teenager throws out judgments randomly as if they were raining down.

...Well, exactly! ;D

So why are you choosing a Nick like that?

Actually, the one I have is a remix by Mouse On Mars; you can even listen to it here -> Moonchild (Mouse on Mars remix) — Cibo Matto | Last.fm <-

Oh man, the bullshit that LOR15/Karl/Microman used to write is truly the best in the world. In the review, you rightly point out the last version of Entombed and the first version of Cathedral, but we're pretty far from Morbid Angel & Terrorizer :) : it's a bona fide Stoner Doom album, even released by Man's Ruin, they even take their name from a Kyuss song, it doesn't get any better than this :D. However, some of the reasoning written on this page shows an incredible level of ignorance and mental closure, highlighting the fact that a lot of people can't perceive more than one note every three seconds, clear cognitive limitations, and when written by people who praise the NME, it becomes pure comedy.

The problem for many is that they go to the ice cream shop to order spaghetti allo scoglio.

Yes, no jokes: technically these are among the best instrumentalists in the history of music, the bassist is a monster, it's terrifying, covering them is really a tough challenge. I haven't read the rec and maybe it paints them as Malefici & Devastanti, but beyond the stage nonsense, these are people who have really studied a lot; there’s not one who couldn’t easily secure a chair at the conservatory for their instrument. The Dream Theater should give these guys some serious sound bites with an impact; only Portnoy can hold his own against Allen, but on guitar and bass, there's no contest—these guys are Leaders and the DT are just Followers.

And then you look for information elsewhere.

Oh yes, I looked into it a bit and discovered that I had heard the Remixes. The keyboardist is not exactly one of the last idiots; she hasn't just "collaborated" with Zorn, she is part of the Cobra orchestra. Etcetera didn't mention some of her quite interesting collaborations: Mario Caldato & Beastie Boys, Dan The Automator, Sean Lennon, Marc Ribot... and others. Basically, these matto guys represent the gay vision of this Yuka's music, who calls her silly friend DJ to make Pop discs. I suspect this is a nice load of crap, but Yuka and friends' versions are really cool. :D
