The second album by Cibo Matto was released in 1999, leaving behind the meditative and sensual atmosphere of the first one to find a style belonging (or that belonged) to the Western tradition of pop: once again, a mix of sounds and rhythms resampled and artfully crafted.
Immediately striking is the contrast between the tracks, each different from the other yet united by the hip-hop thread that makes it a truly unique album.
Stereo Type A is a schizoid and psychotic blend of various genres: from pop, hip-hop, rock, punk to a postmodern and elegant bossa nova capable of reinterpreting timeless classics like "Aguas de Março".
Among the tracks on this album, "Spoon", "Moonchild", "Shi-Fi Wasabi", "Blue Train", and "Stone" stand out, which with its bossa nova rhythm, leaves us with a sense of calm awareness and serenity.
A perfect example of Shibuya-kei, a sweet and simple sewing work like the teasing eyes of Japanese teenagers.
