Lucio Battisti Hegel

"Sentimental and rhetorical"? Which Battisti are you referring to? If you take a look at the reviews (or better yet, if you listen to his entire discography) you'll realize that there have been several Battistis, all with very different poetic/musical lines, when not contrasting...
Yes, Enea, I think I belong to the faction of the womanizers :-)
Genesis Nursery Cryme

I've always found the Foxtrot suite a bit wooden, and the rest of the album is... well, it was actually the record that made me set Genesis aside; it took Selling England (and The Lamb, okay...) to make me appreciate them again.
King Crimson Red
Voto:
I discovered this album much later than the other KC records I knew: it took me a while because at the time I was a bit discouraged by the not-so-great listens of Lizard and In the Wake. Red is a masterpiece that definitively reaffirms the distance that separates Fripp from the other big names in progressive.

The album is my favorite by Genesis, but the review (although heartfelt) could have been a bit more enlightening...
Lucio Battisti Hegel
Voto:
I agree with Enea that this is the least successful of the BP quintet; it feels like an album that was made too quickly, with linguistic games that are now somewhat worn out and music that tries to grasp at novelties (perhaps the easiest ones?). Among the more interesting tracks, besides La voce del viso, I would also include Almeno l'inizio and La moda del respiro, even though I’ve never been able to digest Estetica, Hegel, and rooms like this. Does Hegel’s music sound so new and booming to you, dear voiceface? To me, the drums from the previous LPs already seemed quite electronic...
Human League Dare
Voto:
It's true that albums like this, for better or for worse, mark an era, but in the specific case of HL, in my opinion, the preference undoubtedly falls on the splendid Reproduction, which is absolutely superior to this Dare in terms of quality.

accurate and thorough review, well done as usual, ege! I loved this album at first listen, but then it got a bit boring... that ever-present squishy bass makes me a bit weary. New Gold Dream occasionally earns an extra listen.
How is Sons and Fascination with the dear old Steve Hillage playing?

Uhm... I have the 1989 edition of Tago Mago, with not-so-great audio quality... do you think it’s worth getting the remastered version, aside from the amazing packaging? It annoys me a bit to keep buying the same stuff... I have the edition of Ege Bamyasi from a few years later (1992, I think) and the sound seems already better.

I agree, or at least I think so. We are in the midst of a "post-anything" era, and in the endless availability of any rock relic, every genre and group can live its fifteen minutes, if not of fame, at least of archaeological revival. Heh heh heh!
